3rd grade news!
4th quarter
The last quarter is here!
The past week was short but productive. Scholars and staff worked purposefully as we wrapped up the third grading period. Last quarter is here and as flowers blow, birds sing and squirrels run up and down the tree students and staff have much to celebrate, and we look forward to sharing your child(ren)’s progress with you during conferences this week.
This final quarter will be a roller coaster of emotions, as we embark on activities such as a parade for the Wild Robot Book, a writing contest for the Sant Jordi celebration, or planting our garden but at the same time we get ready to take our first SOLs. We will need to keep the energy going, the willingness to learn and improve and at the same time have an amazing end of the school year!!

All these standards will be worked inside our garden project:
Temperature: Reading thermometers in Fahrenheit and Celsius to when to plant.
Measurement: Measure using inches, feet yards, centimeters, and meters to design our beds and garden.
Measurement: Measure volume in cups, pints, quarts, and gallons to water our plants using our rain barrel.
Perimeter and area: Calculate the perimeter and area of the area where we will plant, of our garden beds, and the area and perimeter on a square foot using inches.
SLA (Spanish)
In Spanish, kids will finish their garden project, learning about human impact and sustainability. Also, they will continue practicing their communication skills in order to be able to express ideas and opinions through the language.
