Summarization
The five predominate world religions are: Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
Hinduism

The religion of Hinduism is indigenous to and is predominately practiced throughout the Indian subcontinent. Hinduism is a religion governed around a polytheistic belief system. Individuals who practice this religion predominately worship the gods and goddesses of Ganesha, Matangi, and Annapurna. Practitioners of this religion do not abide by one specific holy book, but rather by a series of scriptures entitled, Veda. Diwali, Dashara, and Holi are the most prominent and frequently practiced holidays of the Hinduism religion. As ritual, Hindus are most typically vegetarian and refrain from interaction with dead and impure organisms such as dogs and swines. Hindus also avoid association with bodily fluids and bathe daily in purified water and oil.
Buddhism

Buddhism is a religion governed around a polytheistic belief system. Individuals who practice this religion predominately worship and devote themselves to the god of Buddha. Practitioners of this religion abide by the holy book of Tripitaka. Vesak, Anapanasati, and the Buddhist New Year are the most celebrated holidays and festivals encompassed within this religion. As ritual, Buddhists engage in a meticulous period of daily meditation and also frequently participate in the confession of faults and acts of contrition ceremony.
Judaism

Judaism is a religion governed around a monotheistic belief system. Individuals who practice this religion worship and devote themselves to an entity entitled God. Practitioners of this religion abide by the teachings of the Torah. Yom Kippur, Rosh HaShanah, and Hanukah are the most prominent and frequently practiced holidays within the religion of Judaism. As ritual, upon turning thirteen, children receive a Bar Mitzvah (male) or Bat Mitzvah (female) to indicate the initiation of adulthood. It is also considered sacrilegious by those who practice the religion of Judaism to pursue or contemplate divorce.
Christianity

Christianity is a religion governed around a monotheistic belief system. Individuals who practice this religion devote themselves to and worship a divine entity entitled Jesus. Practitioners of this religion abide by the teachings of the Bible. Christmas, Easter, Lent, and Advent are the most celebrated and prominent holidays within the religion of Christianity. As ritual, individuals who abide by this religion attend church each Sunday and typically receive the Seven Sacraments, including Baptism and Confirmation.
Islam

Islam is a religion governed around a monotheistic belief system. Individuals who practice this religion worship and devote themselves to an entity entitled Allah. Practitioners of this religion abide by and dictate their lives in accordance with the Quran. Ramadan, Muharram, and Eid Al-Fitr are the most frequently practiced holidays and festivals of the Islam religion. As ritual, individuals who abide by the Islam religion are required to fast throughout the month of Ramadan, and must also abide by the Five Pillars of Faith that have been implemented into their religion.
