Principal's Message
Good afternoon Canby High School Students & Families,
We had a terrific Pack the Gym Week, with the assembly, event, and Winterfest dance. Thanks to our marketing and leadership students for all of their hard work, and all of the other staff, students, and community participants and donors that make the week possible. We also got to honor the accomplishments of our swim and cheer team in the assembly last week. Today’s assembly consisted of election speeches as well as gave us the opportunity to honor our wrestling team’s accolades. Congratulations to Jackson Doman on his state title; James Keinonen on his second place finish; Emilia Ensrud, Trey Smith, Nico Yazzolino, and Matthew Young on earning 3rd; Dean Williams and Isaiah Parsons for placing 4th, and Tyler Konold and Madison Kidwell for placing 5th. Our male wrestlers earned 5th place overall at state.
Tonight is our last Unified Game (rescheduled from Monday). Tomorrow our Men’s Basketball Team will travel to Summit High School, and Saturday our Women’s Basketball team will travel to Corvallis High School, both for the first round of the state playoffs. We are so #canbyproud of our Cougar athletes. Speaking of outstanding accomplishments, senior Rodrigo Vasquez Paz earned the Student Aspiring Activist Award at the OABE (Oregon Association of Bilingual Educators) state conference last weekend.
We have a couple of opportunities to see our talented students in action coming up. Our spring play, Into the Woods, opens tonight for a two week run. See show times and more information below. Tomorrow is our Career and Technical Education (CTE) Summit. It is from 9-12, and is open to the public. It starts at 9 AM with a brief opening presentation in the Fine Arts Center, continues with tours through our CTE classrooms, and ends with a Meet and Greet at 11:45. We encourage you to check out our fantastics students and programs in Accounting/Marketing, Agriculture, Computer Science, Construction Technology, Culinary Arts, Early Childhood Education, Manufacturing/Engineering and Multimedia Production (Graphic Design/Journalism). We hope to see you there.
Have a Wonderful Week!
Best,
Cari Sloan

Attendance and Sick Students:
To ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our attendance process, please remember the following guidelines:
If your student needs to leave class for an appointment or because they are sick, inform the attendance office 30 MINUTES PRIOR to leave time. This will help us ensure that your student receives a note to leave class in a timely manner. Students will not be excused without a note.
Pre-excused absence forms need to be turned into the Attendance Secretary 24 hours PRIOR to leaving for the absence.
To report an absence, call our attendance line at 503-263-7210 or email chs-attendance@canby.k12.or.us.
Please report an absence as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours after the absence.
Remember that attendance matters and students who attend class regularly are more likely to stay on track, graduate on time, learn deeply, and get the most from their high school experience.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for K-12 students, and free for CHS students with ASB. In addition, Thursday performances are "middle school nights" -- 7th and 8th graders from BPMS and Ninety-One receive a free ticket when accompanied by a ticketed adult. This play is presented in English, and is recommended for ages 10 and up.
The story of Into the Woods: The inhabitants of a small village express their deepest wishes – including Cinderella who wishes to go to the ball, Jack who wishes his cow would give milk so his mother won’t make him sell her, the Baker and his Wife who wish to have a child, and Little Red who wishes for plenty of baked treats to bring to her Granny. When the local Witch reveals that the Baker and his Wife must break a curse in order to have a child, the characters go into the woods to pursue making their wishes come true. As stories collide, everyone figures out a way to make their wishes come true. But just as everything seems to conclude with a happy ending, a second beanstalk sprouts… and the story continues as the consequences of their actions spiral out of control. They must learn to work together and take responsibility for their actions in order to find their way forward.
