ATTENDANCE
Knights @ 90: FHN currently has 87.35% of students at or above 90% attendance.
We know the school year is winding down, but our efforts to educate the staff and build a more supportive environment never stop. Here are a few takeaways from a recent article on attendance called “Best Practices for Improving Attendance in Secondary Schools”:
*Students emphasized the need to be respected by adults, to have teachers who hold high expectations for them, and to provide them with the tools they needed to achieve success.
*Teachers in these environments know students well, have higher expectations for students, help to foster critical judgement in their students, and engage in a variety of strategies to motivate their students.
*students who are disengaged in classes, particularly at the secondary level, are at risk of truant behavior.

CLIMATE
Climate committee met twice last week. The goal was to develop a way to share the results of our third quarter survey in a productive manner. We will be utilizing most of the faculty meeting on Wednesday to go through that process. We will not be looking at all of the comments, but you are welcome to do so at any time. Just send Erin Steep an email and you can set up a time to view all of the comments and data.
