Attendance Matters: Rewards and Privileges Tied to Student Attendance
Research shows students with a high attendance rate maintain better grades and graduate on time. This is no surprise since students who are absent miss valuable instruction and fall behind in their work. Because students’ attendance is critical to their success we have implemented new expectations over the past two years that honor students with good attendance and give them access to certain privileges. For instance, students must currently maintain 90% attendance or better to attend field trips, run for leadership positions, and obtain a VOE for their driver's license. We also like to recognize and reward students that help us reach our attendance goal. Last year we had a field trip for students with perfect attendance and we will do it again this year. We will have a drawing for Spurs tickets this Friday and will begin a new attendance incentive after Spring Break and students will be able to win $50 Walmart gift cards, a Coach wristlet, Kendra Scott jewelry, and other similar items. Our current attendance rate for the 2018-19 school year is 94% and our goal is 95.5% for the remainder of the year. Please help us increase our attendance rate by ensuring your student is present each day. You can also help with this new attendance incentive program by sharing your ideas or donating items. If you would like to help please follow the link below to answer a couple of questions. Together we can reach our goal of 95.5% attendance! Thank you.
