The National Archives
What It Is
The National Archives was built by a vote of Congress. The National Archives holds lots of important documents such as the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. It holds documents from 1774 until now.
What's There
The National Archives was built in 1934. It was given to the Archivist of the United States. It has 5.5 million maps, charts, and drawings, plus 35 million still photographs and graphics.
History
In June 1934 Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a law making the National Archives an independent agency. Then it was incorporated with the General Services Administration in 1949. That's only some information about the National Archives, but I'm done.
