The D.A.D. Professional Development (DADPD) will take place in the Diversity Middle School conference room from 8:30 until 3:00 on Monday, August 11th the first week of school. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided from 7:00 until 8:25. Attire: Professional
Each staff member will need to register for courses each hour they are offered. There are four Professional Development classes (Diversity in the classroom acknowledging School Climate and Safety) that are at least one hour each.
7:00 Arrival and Breakfast served until 8:00
8:00- 8:25 Welcome and Introduction of Presenters and Topics
8:30 AM - 9:30 AM Diversity in the Classroom/ Objective: Diversity Middle School’s Demographics and ESL and Bilingual population and strategies. Assistant Principal Michael Mitchell.
9:40am 10:40 AM: School Culture, Climate, and Safety for All. Objective: Identify Present School Culture, Climate, and Safety conditions for all students. Presenter School Resource Officer and Counselor.
10:50 - 12:00 PM: “Multicultural Speaking” Promoting Student culture, voices, and experience. Objective: Multicultural Strategies that work. Objective: Strategies and Multicultural Curriculum overview. Assistant Principal Sherry Tisdale
12:00 – 1:00 PM: Working lunch: Lunch Provided Chick-fil-a
1:00 – 2:30 PM: Avoiding Discrimination (Laws that relate to Race, Ethnicity, Religion, Gender, and Sexual Orientation Issues). Objective: Explore current laws as relate to discrimination and liability) District Lawyer
2:30– 3:00 pm Wrap UP, Summary, Survey and Dismissal.
