Hi families! I am York's School Social Worker, Alexius Zollars.
I was born in the Frederick, Maryland area, and attended both undergraduate and graduate school in Pittsburgh, PA. When I decided that I had enough snow and not enough warm weather, my husband, 2 year old daughter and I, relocated to Florida! We have lived in Sun City Center since June 2020. I have prior field experience in child welfare, foster care/adoption and implementing social skills in the school setting. I am so happy to be serving this school, and being available for families for community resources, crisis intervention, developing social history reports, promoting good attendance, and much more! I serve on the Student Services team with our two amazing counselors, psychologist and ESE specialist. While we are all on the same team, we all preform different roles to serve our students. I became a social worker to help children overcome difficulties and trauma, to bloom into being confident in themselves to follow their dreams. My school counselor in high school played a crucial role in preparing me for the real world, and if it wasn't for that support, I don't know if I'd be here, serving all of you, today! In my spare time, I like going to the beach, taking my daughter to local parks, and walking my 3 dogs - which include 2 Corgis, and an older rescue Pomeranian. In addition, I am big into fashion and going to the gym twice a week. I really enjoy making crafts with my Cricut, along with homemade polymer clay earrings. My favorite holidays are Halloween and Christmas. I love groovy/boho related things, such as The Beatles, John Mayer, Coffee House music (so relaxing and uplifting), succulents and greenery, rainbows, and sunflowers. Enough about me - I am so eager to get to know all of our staff, students and families! I love making connections and building new relationships, so feel free to reach out to me when you need an extra level of support or have any concerns or questions.
