WELCOME MESSAGE
It is our pleasure to welcome you to IHS! There is nothing like the excitement of the first week of the school year. In this newsletter you will find information pertaining to the start of the year. Subsequent newsletters will include celebrations and updates throughout the year. Please reach out to your child's school counselor or Assistant Principal with any questions. The phone numbers to the Counseling Center and AP Office are at the bottom of this newsletter. Again, welcome back and have a fantastic year!
BELL SCHEDULE
Our doors open at 7:30 AM with period 1 class beginning at 8:00AM. Our cafeteria is open at 7:30 AM for breakfast.
ON-TIME ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Daily attendance to school and to each scheduled period is important. We understand students may miss school days for several reasons. Please contact our Attendance Office (585-336-2919) each day that your student is absent.
We are returning to the use of our "Robo calls" to help communicate student absences. An automated phone call will occur, daily, close to 4 PM to notify you if your student was absent as well as indicate the periods for which they did not attend.
An additional text or email will generate after period 2. If you are the recipient of the earlier message, please contact the attendance office regarding the absence or reach out to your child to encourage attendance to classes.
Remain informed and access information through the use of our Parent Tab on our IHS Homepage (click on this link to access). You will find information regarding newsletters, calendars, time schedule, health information, IHS Clubs, Yearbook information and the Picture Order Form.
SCHOOL PICTURES
School Pictures are scheduled to occur on Sept. 14-15 during PE classes. Order forms will be distributed in student's 1st period classes by the end of the first week. You can also view prices and packages through the IHS webpage and looking under the Parent Tab.
INFINITE CAMPUS PARENT PORTAL
You can view your student's attendance, in progress grades, assignments and more using the Parent Portal through Infinite Campus. Click here.
SAFE SCHOOL HELPLINE
If you see something, say something!
Please encourage students to report any concerns to an adult at school in addition to sharing with you. If your child wishes to remain anonymous but should report a concern, encourage them to complete the Safe School Helpline form using the link below or through the app. Reporting with as many factual details as possible will help our administrators follow up with individuals in a timely manner. Thank you for continuing to support a positive school climate.
HOMECOMING WEEK 2022
Our Homecoming Week is scheduled for the week of September 19th with the football game scheduled for Saturday, September 24th at 3 PM vs. Greece Arcadia. Student Council meets each year to poll the student body and vote on the themes for each day. The votes are determined by student interest and a way for us to encourage and support student agency. This year's student selections include:
- Monday - PJ day
- Tuesday- Class Color Day (Seniors wear Red, Juniors wear Green, Sophomores wear Orange, Freshmen wear purple)
- Wednesday- Pink Out Day (wear as much pink as you can!)
- Thursday- Middle School Throwback Day
- Friday- Blue and Gold Day (wear school colors)
Thank you to our Student Council for organizing the themes for this year. Students are encouraged to show school spirit throughout the week!
IHS CLASS T-SHIRTS
Traditionally, each class has represented one of four colors which are worn on the day of the Super Quiz. This fun throwback to a Quiz Show is streamed live during one of the classes. Super Quiz is one of the ways that the grade level earns points with one full grade awarded bragging rights by the end of the week. Please see the parent tab for class links to purchase a t- shirt for Homecoming Week, if you are interested. The proceeds are used as a fundraiser for student events and are not required to participate in Homecoming Week. Students are encouraged to wear their class color.
BUS SCHEDULES
If you are a family who utilizes specialized transportation and have not yet heard from our transportation department, please access Infinite Campus and look for the Transportation tab. You will need to click on "22-23 Irondequoit High School" in the Transportation Tab to see your student's pick/drop off information.
If you are a student who utilizes RTS, please click on this link for their schedule of times, pick up and drop off locations:

LOCKERS
Our special education teachers have been working with the main office to secure a set of lockers close to their classrooms. Students will be given their locker assignments on the first day of school.
Other students who are interested in a locker assignment should visit the IHS Main Office and complete a brief form. We will have locker assignments and combination recorded in Infinite Campus later that day.
