SLA-MS is a Place of Learning!
SLA-MS is a place of learning. For students to be successful we need your support with:
- Chromebooks - Having a fully charged chromebook at the beginning of each school day is crucial. It is a student's responsibility to have their Chromebook charged. A fully charged Chromebook should last the entire school day. If your student needs a new charger, there is information on how to order a new one at the following link: https://slams.philasd.org/chromebooks/
- School starts at 8:15. Many students are coming in late to school with food from local stores and late to class. Food is not allowed in classrooms. Being on time is essential to students starting their day off right. Students need to have their breakfast completed before 8:15.
- Student's cell phones are off during the school day. If you need to reach your student you can call our main office at (215) 400-8320.
- Keep slime at home: Slime, putty and other gooey substances are not allowed at SLA-MS. It can ruin Chrome Books, other personal belongings and clog sinks. This needs to be kept at home.

A word from HSA:
As promised, we are now voting to confirm the following 2 candidates for these HSA board positions:
Name: Jessica Stern, mother of Lucas/Charlotte (rising 6th and 8th grade)
Position: At Large / 6th grade representative
Goals/Strengths: I’d like to increase the communication between the school and students and help strengthen the community within the grade. I would act as a homeroom parent but for all 6th graders. I hope to give the students a voice and help them to address any concerns or ideas they have. I want to help make the school year enjoyable for all students. I have run mini courses with other parents since the school first opened, forming relationships with the students that I hope to build on.Name: Dayna Barefield, mother of Dayneir (new incoming 5th grade)
Position: At Large / 5th Grade Representative
Goals/Strengths: I love the kids and I'm 100% about supporting our future! I hope to achieve a strong relationship with any and all things that support the school. I have 5-7 years of experience volunteering at each of my child's schools. I am available to help in any way and at many times. I am known to be a team player.
