The Attack
On December 6th, President Roosevelt pleaded with the emperor of Japan and got no reply. Later, the US intercepted a transmission which led them to believe there would be an attack somewhere in southeast Asia. The next day at about 8 a.m. the Japanese an attack of 183 planes. The second attack had 167 planes. It was unbelievable. It shook the nation. President Roosevelt called December 7, "a date which will live in infamy" Many ships and aircraft were lost during the attack. 2,335 servicemen and 68 civilians killed, with 1,178 wounded. 1,104 men died on the USS Arizona. I was surrounded with explosions and gunfire. I couldn't even think. I saw so many bodies. The sounds of screaming from the dying people pierced my ears and sent chills down my spine. We shouldn't keep all of our aircraft and carriers in one spot. It makes us too easy to target. America needs to be prepared for attacks. ISIS could bomb us and it can be catastrophic.
