MCAS Infrastructure Trial
On Wednesday, March 14th all 3rd-6th grade students will be taking the MCAS Infrastructure Trial test. It will begin at 9:00 a.m. All students will be taking it in their home room class; even IEP students as the purpose is just exposure to the test (and to make sure that our system can handle students taking the test). I will be handing out the student tickets to all homeroom teachers that morning.

Enrichment Clubs
Many of you have talked to me about running an Enrichment Club, but I have not received many . . . so please submit now by Wednesday, March 12th (due to the weather and Flurry Folder Day 6 and 7).
(8 weeks). I am looking for proposals from staff members for a club that you would like to run. This club would happen at most once a week and would be no longer than a hour. You would be paid $30/hour. Please note that there can only be one teacher per 15 students. The weeks that clubs would be taking place are the following:
week of March 19th
week of March 26th
week of April 2nd
week of April 19th
week of April 23rd
week of April 30th
week of May 7th
week of May 14th
In the proposal, I would need the following information: club name, day and time that club would meet, location of club, grade levels that can join club, number of children in your club, budget for materials, and brief description that would go in flyers home. These proposals are due by Friday, March 2nd. Everyone would be notified by Friday, March 9th if your proposal was accepted or not.
Flurry Folders
Just a few reminders about Flurry Folders:
-please give me a copy of all surveys returned
-make sure to give parents a new survey each Flurry Folder day
-remember to send home a receipt to all parents the next day after you have received the work
-please just send me a email of attendance as soon as you have it
each teacher should only send me the attendance for the class and content that they are responsible for
If you should have any questions, please ask me!
Please submit your attendance for Flurry Folder Day 6 and Flurry Folder Day 7 as soon as possible as we will need it for report card attendance totals.

Trimester 2 Report Cards
All progress reports and report cards need to be sent home with students on Friday, March 16th. Please plan accordingly. Note that Ann will be providing you with attendance/tardy figures. (Note that we need the attendance for Flurry Folder Day 6 as soon as you can to accomplish this. Thanks!)
Upcoming March PD Day
Please remember that Friday, March 9th is an Early Release Day at 11:30 a.m. and that no lunch is served. The March 9th building based PD will run from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Due to the fact that the Superintendent has requested both Marie and myself to attend Leadership Training at Holy Cross for the day, required staff will be working on the following:
K-6 teachers: working on completing math and ELA rubrics (if you have not already received it, you will be getting feedback from Marie to guide you). If you feel that you have finished one or both, please share them with both myself and Marie. The rest of the time can be used for MCAS Prep and K-2 Literacy Block.
Title I/Interventionist: LLI and Orton-Gillingham
Special Ed: Wilson or Special Ed planning
Guidance: individual counseling session planning or planning for whole class lessons
Everyone - please just shoot me a short email with what you accomplished and that will serve as your sign-in.
Thanks!

PCS Citizen of the Month Program
Just a reminder . . .
The Pillars of Character Education
Petersham Center School is going to emphasize the Pillars of Character Education: Compassion, Fairness, Integrity, Perseverance, Responsibility, Respect, and Self-Discipline for our Citizen of the Month Program going forward. Below is a brief description of each remaining pillar for this school year.
At each Student Assembly, a student will be announced from each class who was an exemplary model of the pillar of the month, given a certificate signed by the Principal, their picture will be hung in the cafeteria, and a PCS Citizen of the Month cinch bag.
March: RESPONSIBILITY
Do what you are supposed to do • Plan ahead • Persevere: keep on trying! • Always do your best • Use self-control • Be self-disciplined • Think before you act — consider the consequences • Be accountable for your words, actions, and attitudes
April: RESPECT
Treat others with respect how you want to be treated, the Golden Rule • Be tolerant and accepting of differences • Use good manners, not bad language • Be considerate of the feelings of others • Don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone • Deal peacefully with anger, insults, and disagreements
May: SELF-DISCIPLINE
Always do your share, always work your hardest, change poor habits, always consider the consequences and make the most the responsible decisionsUpcoming PCS IEP dates
