Lockdown Lowdown
Friday 1st May 2020
Welcome to our very first ever Lockdown Lowdown!
Siblings on Lockdown
Kids - one of the best things you can do at the moment for your parents is to get on nicely with your siblings. Your brothers and sisters might be annoying normally (!) but right now, we need you all to look after each other and leave the arguments for when we are all back to normal. Trust us - your parents will be extra proud and happy if there is peace in your house!
And these are our Superstars this week - nominated by their families to receive a special mention
Billy
Despite missing his friends and family, he has shown maturity in his understanding of the reasons why.
He is fun to be around after a difficult day at work, helped his little brother learn to ride his first bike and loves taking us on long bike rides.
George
I would like to nominate George for learning how to ride his bike without stabilisers. He had a couple of rides up & down the road and he was away on his own. The following day he learned how to turn at the top of the close and ride back to me. Proud mummy!
Ethan and Maya
A shout out for their ideas in constructing a social distanced supermarket!
They had a topic of money set by their teachers and so they practised looking at coins and adding up the cost of shopping trips.
Isabel
I nominate Isabel for being the queen of the jigsaws - it’s taken all morning and some of the afternoon but Isabel has allowed Mummy and Daddy to work while she kept herself occupied covering our living room floor with every single jigsaw we own!
Theo
Emily
Rhys
Throughout this crazy period, he has remained focused on home-learning, been supportive and kind to two stressed parents and nurturing and protective to a younger sister who has found it at times tough.
Eliana and Jakob
On Sunday 26th April, they took part in the 2.6 challenge.. to raise money for charities that are loosing out on funds during this time..
They walked 2.6 miles and as of today raised £296 for Autism Angels, not only did they do the walk but they also delivered a box of Chocolates to Fernbank Court residential care home.
Harrison
He loved making his 'maglev' train' for his mode of transport.
Thomas
Preston
Kayleigh
Kayleigh has been looked after by her auntie whilst I’ve been continuing to work. She has been a big help to her Auntie, encouraging and assisting her younger cousins with their tasks as well as her own.
When I get in from work we have a look at the work that she has completed and go over anything that she was unsure of.I’m incredibly proud of Kayleigh!!
Lucy
Lucy has worked so hard and not complained at all about all the work that I've had her doing. There's a lot of good work on her laptop and pieces of paper in my dining room. She's a credit to you Mr W! She's diligently carried on with piano via zoom and practising and has also been helping with meals and after a fashion tidying up. She's quite useful to have at home. We also attended a girl guiding webinar on careers in STEM as a bit of a change of something to do which was good and I think her future career as a scientific leader is secured.
Noah
Noah has excelled himself in this lock down period, completing work set out for him on a daily basis since the outset - his work ethic has and is still exemplary – without any confrontation or arguments!
The work he completes is of high standard and good quality. He may not understand all of the work that is being sent (neither do I sometimes) but he asks and he gives it his best shot at it all and in everything that he does. He has a very positive attitude.
Missy
Today was supposed to be opening night for Missy's Musical Theatre group performing 'Wind in the Willows'... After all the weeks of rehearsals instead of being miserable about it all she took part in making a music video with some of the cast to give thanks to the NHS and Care workers singing a lovely song from the show called 'A Friend is still a friend' It has already had over 4 thousand views....
Benjamin
Benjamin is trying is hardest to adapt being at home and losing his routine. His anxiety is through the roof.
Not much work, but when he does it is amazing.
I would like to say how proud I am of all he has achieved and accomplished during Lockdown.
Jake
Jake is trying his hardest with the current situation and has completed every piece of work sent to him, he is using all the resources round the house, the internet and even calling family when it comes to things like his history of Selby work.
Not only is Jake doing his work he is now a keen chef and making his own meals (mainly curry or stir fry). Not only that but he has been keeping up with his chores around the house, and helping with shopping for our family members who are on lockdown, but also having fun too, he even up-cycled an old mirror for his bedroom.
Lily
And the rest of you...
Stay safe and take care!
Together we shine as one.
