Message From the Principal
Happy Friday Titans!
As we honor and celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this weekend, I am thinking about how he was a champion for Growth Mindset. Growth Mindset is the belief that everyone can learn, change, and develop. By developing better skills, our students will be equipped to handle any setbacks and know hard work can help them accomplish their goals.
Thank you to all the parents, students, and teachers who attended the Student-Led Data Talks. Mr. Rawlings Johnson and Ms. Ida Ward did a great job with the presentation. Data Talks are a key component of developing Growth Mindset in our students. By teaching students to interpret and understand their progress, academic growth, attendance, Milestone test scores, and grades, we are empowering them to take ownership of their learning. Datasheets will be going home next week via WINN class. Please ask your child to interpret their data and take a moment to help your child set some academic and personal goals.
Today in WINN class, Breakfast of Excellence invitations were issued to our students who will be honored for their grades and attendance for the fall semester. Students earning all As, including Connections, have been placed on the Superior Honor Roll. Students earning all As and Bs, at least one A must be in an academic subject, have been placed on the Excellent Honor Roll. Students who attended every day last semester, and did not miss any class periods or have any tardies, will be recognized for Perfect Attendance at the Breakfasts of Excellence. Congratulations to our excellent students:
- 6th Grade Superior - All As
- 6th Grade Excellent - A and B
- 7th Grade Superior - All As
- 7th Grade Excellent - A and B
- 8th Grade Superior - All As
- 8th Grade Excellent - A and B
- Perfect Attendance for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades
Parents, I look forward to seeing you at the Breakfasts of Excellence coming up on January 29th, 30th, and 31st. Have a wonderful long weekend and enjoy your friends and family!!
Sincerely,

Scoliosis Training - 1/30...Scoliosis Screening - 2/20
Attention Elkins Pointe Parents: WE NEED VOLUNTEERS for the Scoliosis Screening event on Friday, February 20th, from 12 noon - 3:30 pm. Volunteers must be Scoliosis Screening Trained. FCS will provide training on Jan. 30th and the Screening will be on Feb. 20th.
This is a really important event because between the ages of 11-14 is the prime period of identification for scoliosis of the spine, and early detection and early treatment is the key to reversing scoliosis so it is not a life-long problem. Can we count on you to help Elkins Pointe MS with this event?
- Jan. 30 - Scoliosis Volunteer Training @ North Learning Center @ 10AM - 11:30AM (*20 Screeners Needed)
- Feb. 20 - Scoliosis Screening of 6th-grade & 8th-grade @ Elkins Pointe MS @ 12-4 PM
If you can sign up as a volunteer, we will feed you lunch, snacks, and coffee on the day of the screening. For those that were certified through training last year, you do not have to retake the training course.
For those that are new to scoliosis screening, or have not been re-certified in the last 2 years, you will be required to attend the training session on January 30th from 9 AM - 11 AM at the North Learning Center, in Sandy Springs. Please, direct questions to Jennifer Rodman: jcrodman@yahoo.com.
EPMS Spirit Night @ Dos Margarita's - 2/22
International Night Performers Wanted! -3/21
Our EPMS International Night is fast approaching on Thursday, March 21 from 6-8 PM. This is one of the biggest and most successful event for us and our community. We are in need of performers and talented individuals (teachers, students, parents and professionals) to show and share their talent. We are calling actors, singers, dancers, jugglers, ventriloquists, pianists, drummers, guitarists, cheerleaders, etc. We would love for you to share your abilities with us during the International Night. Please email Monsieur Mendy at mendy@fultonschools.org if you would like to perform.
THINGS FOR STUDENTS @ EPMS

- To encourage students to learn about a foreign country and its culture.
