PICTURE DAY UPDATE 📸
Good morning Madison Park!
Picture day will be Friday, September 9th.
**Cash or check will be accepted the day of photos but must be in an envelope labeled with your child's name and the package you would like to order**
Helpful tips to make picture day great!
- Wear simple clothing. Solid shirts or small patterns, along with sleeves, photograph best. A simple collared shirt is a timeless classic.
- Avoid logos and text on clothing. Graphics or wording may not photograph completely and can become partially cropped out of you picture.
- Pictures will be first thing in the morning, please have your child arrive to school on time.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL 📢
Dear Families,
Madison Elementary School District is committed to inspiring passion for learning and leading in an ever-changing world. Our mission is to foster success for all through dynamic, engaging, and relevant learning experiences focusing on students' academic, social, and emotional growth.
As part of our strategic plan and commitment to serving the needs of the whole child - academic, social, and emotional - we are implementing RULER, an evidence-based approach to social and emotional learning developed at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. RULER is also an acronym for the skills of emotional intelligence: Recognizing emotions, Understanding emotions, Labeling emotions, Expressing emotions, and Regulating emotions. Research from the field of emotion science finds that children who understand and manage their feelings make more responsible decisions, have stronger relationships, and perform better in school.
Last year, teachers, school leaders and staff members in our school learned how we can use the skills of emotional intelligence to reach our goals and support our students in doing the same. We practiced the skills first ourselves, so that we developed our own abilities, became more emotionally intelligent educators and leaders, and were ready to teach the RULER tools and model the skills for the students. This year, we are eager to roll it out with the students in the classrooms with the goal of integrating these mindsets and practices throughout our school.
We look forward to learning and growing together this year.
Sincerely,
Margaret Rodriguez
Principal
