Notes from Principal Dra. Cardenas
Some thoughts for the starting school year
From Mrs. Dietlin-Anderson, Music Teacher:
The month of March is called March's Reading Month. March’s reading month is a celebration that encourages reading at all ages! Reading is a key feature of learning new words, new ideas and imagination! Down by the music room you will see posters displaying musical books. This month we will be listening to songs that have become books. The month of March is called March's Reading Month. March’s reading month is a celebration that encourages reading at all ages! From Principal, Dra. Cárdenas
Esteemed RHE Community,
We have a full week ahead of us. With only four days of instruction for two consecutive weeks, it is imperative that students are here every day. All students from PK - 4th grade are very intently working every day on reaching their set goals, and every day they get closer and closer.
Specifically in 3rd and 4th Grade, students have three weeks before they take their STAAR state assessment for Reading/Writing and Math. We also continue with tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays for them where our teachers further address concepts they still need to master.
In the upcoming week, some students in Kinder - 2nd will be receiving a tutoring permission slip. We will offer 12 days of tutoring for them before their end-of-year reading and math assessments. At the beginning of the year our teachers met with every parent of their students to share the beginning-of-year reading and math data. We will use the end-of-year reading and math assessment data alongside the last report card to make decisions for promotion and retention.
Thank you parents for supporting your child, our students, at home by ensuring they do homework, staying in touch with our teachers, and working on additional iReady lessons at home. All of this along with the instruction, intervention, and enrichment they are receiving at school will help our students reach their goal.
At Your Service,
Dra. Betty A. Cárdenas
