Good News of Great Joy
This world is messed up.
That may seem like a strange way to start a newsletter during the Christmas season, but in order to understand just how amazing God's gift to us is, we must begin with the understanding that we desperately need redemption. The wickedness of mankind has caused great heartache for every inhabitant of earth. I'm not just referring to the big problems like war and crime, but relatively minor issues like distrust, heartbreak, anger, selfishness, and dishonesty also cause us suffering. We need to be saved from ourselves.
When the angel told the shepherds of Jesus' birth, he called it "good news of great joy" (Luke 2:10). The good news is that Jesus came to remove the root cause of our pain and it was not just for a select few, it was "to all people." As we celebrate Christmas at GCA, I desire to emphasize the redemption that is offered through God's gift of His Son. We can rejoice in the good news that Christ brings hope of a new life to everyone.
