I’m happy to share that Artondale Elementary and Evergreen Elementary have been nominated by the Washington Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) to be recognized as U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Honorees for 2024. Stay tuned for an exciting announcement as official awards will be presented in late April!
To go with our theme of the month, perseverance we have two optional opportunities for students to participate in connection with our Green Ribbon nomination and earth day. Please see flyers below about our Earth Day writing contest and Annual Lego Challenge. Hard copies are also going home with students today. We are so excited to see what students create!
Theme of the Month - Perseverance
Hello Artondale Families,
This month we are focusing on the theme of perseverance. Other words that mean perseverance are grit, determination, persist and resiliency. Our definition is when you push yourself to work through challenges. Classes are having discussions about perseverance and making connections to our otter expectation of show respect.
This month we are having a classroom and grade level competition to see to what class and grade level can earn the most "perseverance" splash tickets.
Next month's theme: Responsible

ELA Curriculum Adoption Survey
Attention Families! We Need Your Input!
The Peninsula School District is currently undertaking a significant initiative: adopting a new English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum across all grade levels, from kindergarten through 12th grade. This process is being rolled out with varying timelines for different grade levels. Still, the objective remains consistent - to equip our students with a rigorous ELA curriculum that aligns with standards and utilizes evidence-based methodologies.
Please take a moment to share your thoughts on ELA materials and any considerations you believe should guide our decision-making.
This survey is completely anonymous, ensuring your responses are kept confidential. Your input will be instrumental in creating an enriching educational journey for our students.
Click here to access the survey!
As we work through a rigorous adoption process, there will be additional opportunities for families to share their feedback. As we pilot materials, there will be opportunities to review the materials and more parent surveys. Once a curriculum is selected (in the spring of 2025) we will host a community preview event prior to School Board Adoption.
Please visit our ELA Curriculum Website for additional information and timelines.
Thank you for being a crucial part of this journey toward excellence in education! Together, we can make a real difference in our children's academic lives.
Warm regards,
Teaching & Learning, Peninsula School District
