Rolla Junior High School Newsletter
January 2016
Dear RJH Families
Happy 2016!
This is the first RJH Parent Newsletter of 2016 and will be a recurring event. Reflection is key and I realized that even though we send out daily announcements, you never hear from me. I will utilize this time to communicate with you the exciting and fun happenings at RJH as well as ask for your input on a variety of things.
Please let me know what you think of this newsletter format as this is brand new for me to use. My e-mail address is below.
Have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing the students on Monday morning.

Technology at RJH
RPS District & RJH School Comprehensive School Improvement Plan emphasizes the integration of emerging technology to enhance student learning and staff productivity. RJH is pleased to provide students and teachers access to iPads, laptops, and Chromebooks in their classes in order to access Google Classroom to complete assignments, communicate with their teacher, and/or collaborate with their peers on work assigned by their teachers.
The RJH faculty is participating in ongoing technology professional development to effectively implement technology in order to enhance the curriculum. Currently Google Classroom is being used most often in your child’s English, Math, Science, & History. Ask your child to show you their Google Classroom
What is Google Classroom? Here are a few highlights about Google Classroom:
Classroom is a new tool in Google Apps for Education that helps teachers create and organize assignments quickly, provide feedback efficiently, and easily communicate with their classes. Classroom helps students organize their work in Google Drive, complete and turn it in, and communicate directly with their teachers and peers.
Create and collect assignments: Classroom weaves together Google Docs, Drive and Gmail to help teachers create and collect assignments paperlessly. They can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback to individual students.
Stay organized: Classroom automatically creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student. Students can easily see what’s due on their Assignments page.
Improve class communications: Teachers can make announcements, ask questions and comment with students in real time—improving communication inside and outside of class.

RJH Teacher of the Month -- Mrs. Crowell
Congratulations to Mrs. Crowell -- the January teacher of the Month.
Mrs. Crowell is the Art teacher who has created a welcoming environment for her students. Her classes are continually working on amazing art projects that range from drawing to ceramics. She provides her students the opportunity to earn recognition in Artsonia and through sharing students artwork at the RPS Board Office.
Mrs. Crowell leads the RJH Postiive Behavior Team. This team of teachers works to provide character education lessons, incentives for students who meet the Bulldog Code, and works with community businesses to recognize the students of the month.
Thanks for all you do Mrs. Crowell
