What Fun!
Celebrating Our Reading Growth
Brief Subject Updates -- Click on buttons below to open parent letters for each subject
Math: Students finished up their unit on adding and subtracting linear measurements. The assessment was given Today and I will be looking them over shortly. As for next week, students will be taking their number knowledge up to 1000. We will begin with the concept of bundling many smaller units (i.e. tens) to make one larger unit (i.e. a hundred). This foundational unit helps students gain a flexibility with larger numbers to 1000, and it sets the stage for later units on triple digit addition/subtraction and repeated addition. Look for the parent newsletter on Sunday for more information!
Reading: Thank you to the parent volunteers that helped us wrap up our Strong Reading Habits unit with a reading celebration. Prior to this students self reflected on their reading habits using a checklist format. This same process was helpful for setting goals that will carry on into our next reading unit.
Writing: As we wrapped up the unit on Personal Narratives, we payed particular attention to revising and editing. We used a Conventions Checklist to remind us what and how to check spelling and punctuation. Stories were published and shared with peers as a celebration of the writing unit.
- Social Studies: Students learned the importance of digital citizenship this week. We understand no matter the community, citizens should be respectful, honest, considerate, and responsible. Next week we are looking forward to our new science unit all about the life cycles of plants and animals. We’ll begin by dissecting a seed in the science lab!
- Health: Remember to send healthy snacks.

Information From Our Nurses
There are students in your child’s class who have nut allergies. A child with nut allergy can develop mild or severe reactions if they come in contact with the said allergen. Please take note of the following measures:
· Please be considerate of your child’s classmates when sending in snacks (if possible, to avoid sending any nuts or nut products)
· Children should be encouraged to wash their hands before and after lunch, prior to returning to the classroom to avoid any cross-contamination.
· For any special occasions, please be reminded that any food brought in to the class should be nut free.
