1) Charminar
The Charminar is the signature symbol for the people of Hyderabad as Taj Mahal is for the people of Agra and as Eiffel tower is for Paris. It was built by the founder of Hyderabad Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah in the year 1591 at the center of the old City Layout. Charminar is a must visit on a south India tour. People say that it was built to ward off a deadly epidemic which was spread during that time. The four minarets have a height of about 48.7 meters above the ground level. It has 45 spaces to offer prayers in it and it also has a mosque within. Tourists whether foreign or domestic can see the beautiful architecture from inside the Charminar.
Mecca Masjid: Not very far away from the Charminar is the Masjid of Mecca. This is named so because the construction bricks were brought from Mecca which was used to build the arch in the center. The construction was started by the founder of Hyderabad Qutb Shahi, but he was unable to finish the building of the mosque. It was later completed in the 1694 by Aurangzeb.
Laad Bazaar: It is a very old market, but is quite famous among tourists. Anyone who comes to Hyderabad should go to this market. This market is close to the Charminar. You can get anything in this market from Bridal wear to Pearls to the famous Hyderabadi glass and stone bangles.
2) Golconda Fort
Golconda is among the famous forts of the country. It was earlier made of mud, which was then transferred to the Bahmani Dynasty and in the end to the Qutb Shahi’s who had authority over it from 1518 A.D. to 1687 A.D. The fort was rebuilt for over 62 years by the Qutb Shahi Kings. Golconda is famous for its water supply system, great palaces and Fateh Rahben gun; it was one of the cannons used in the last battle to conquer Golconda by Aurangzeb. 3) Birla Mandir
This temple is made of white marble that enshrines the idol of floating Lord Venkateshwara on the skyline of the city. Built on the Kala Pahad the temple is a replica of the one at Tirupati.
Birla Planetarium:
The country’s most sophisticated and modern planetarium is the Birla Planetarium. The planetarium is well equipped with all the advanced technology, which has been brought from Japan. It is situated close to the Kala Pahad.
