BHS AMBASSADORS - SERVICE LEADERSHIP @ HH NICU
Yesterday, the Buckhorn High School Ambassadors went on a service leadership field trip. On this trip, they listened to Heather Green, the Huntsville Hospital Neonatal ICU Family Support Liaison, about what the families of the babies in the NICU experience and how no act of service is too small because the one thing servant leaders can always provide is hope and a helping hand. Later, they went to Huntsville Hospital to donate toys to the Pediatric ICU!

GROW, BUCKS - SENSORY GARDEN
*
TWO THINGS: 1) There’s broccoli growing from AUGUST!! It might only be enough for a snack for one person but we won’t focus on that part we’re just having fun. 2) The Eastern Prickly Pear is budding!! We can’t wait to see what that’ll look like during the summer months when it starts to take off. It’ll get bigger and better every year. And lastly, I think we can all agree that Kendall and Ryder make a great addition to our sensory garden experience!!! #GrowBucks

MOUNTAIN BIKE TEAM
Two weeks ago at Blakey State Park, our riders had one of the most amazing finishes they have had since they first started racing in the state. The 1st thru 6th place in Varsity Boys were separated by 8 seconds in a 20-mile bike race. Brayden Rogers finished forth in this race 4.8 seconds behind the leader. It was truly a sprint to the finish. In addition to that weekend, they had some others make it on the podium as well. Claire Adams had a 4th place finish in JV2 Girls and Sam Stuts finished 3rd for 8th Grade Boys. All of their other members had good races as well. Their hard work is paying off as they finished 6th as a team in Division 1 teams.
This past weekend they maintained their team standing and finished 6th again. The course at Fort McClellan is a little more demanding with a 1.78-mile hill climb to the top of the mountain followed by some really fun down hill sections back down to the finish. On the podium this weekend was Claire Adams with a 4th place finish in JV2 Girls and Sam Stuts with a 5th place finish in 8th grade boys. Some of the riders experienced their first mountain bike race since joining the team. They did really well for their first race and we hope to see them improve as the season progresses.
The next race is at John Hunt Bike Park in Huntsville. We encourage all of you to come out and see them the weekend of the 6th and 7th of April. Middle school will race on Saturday and High School on Sunday. Needless to say, they will be putting some time in at the park over the next two weeks in prep for the race on home dirt. Go Bucks!!!!

Sign Up to Round Up!
The Round Up Program was started by The Schools Foundation and Huntsville Utilities to support local public school systems. The Schools Foundation is a funding partner of Madison County Schools. The more residential and commercial locations that round up, the more funding we can receive. Estimates show that if just half of the residential Huntsville Utilities users rounded up, it would generate approximately $500,000 to support our schools! By rounding up your utility bill to the nearest dollar each month, you help invest in the future of our students!
You can easily sign up to round up online:
https://www.hsvutil.org/community_resources/programs/sign_up_to_round_up.php
It might be a penny, it might be 25 cents, it might be 99 cents, but it will be no more than $11.88 a year. It takes less than 1 minute to fill out.
Thank you for supporting one of our community partners! Go Bucks!
