March Graduation Ceremony
Mrs. Beall’s kindergartners held a special graduation ceremony for their phonics mascot, Mabel. She’s moving on to bigger and more challenging words and books, just like the kids! They celebrated with a graduation ceremony, used their phonics skills to write signs to cheer her on, and made elephant ear headbands to wear. Literacy Coach, Mrs. Watson, was the master of ceremonies and read “Oh The Places You’ll Go”. Mabel even marched down the hall to “pomp and circumstance.” Way to go!
Posts Prom Events
Thank you, Post Prom Committee and all of the volunteers who helped to make the Father/Daughter Dance and Mother/Son Game Night so successful! The Father/Daughter dance moved to the high school this year and it was the largest attendance to date! Everyone had a lot of fun at both events. It takes a TON of work to organize and host these events, so we appreciate everyone who helped make it happen. Thank you, too, to several of our high school students who added in a fun Hair/Nails event to help the girls get ready for the dance at the library. All of the proceeds go to off-set the cost of the Post Prom event. Prom is May 2nd. Check out all the pictures on our Post Prom Events Facebook Album
March Madness Poems
It’s poetry slam meets March Madness. The high school American Literature classes are participating in March is Reading Month with a poetry March Madness bracket. Each student had to choose a poem to read and explain. They go head to head and the class choses who advances in the bracket!

Doodle for Google
Fifth graders at Alamo and WSE are finishing up their Doodle for Google art projects and they are very creative! Doodle for Google is a National scholarship competition to create a design for Google home search page. There will be finalists at the state level as well as national finalists and finally a national winner. But, Ms. Pixley is also doing her own competition to award the kids’ hard work. There will be top designs chosen from both schools and students will vote for their favorites. She will award a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place at each school.
New Art at Learn 'n Grow
The high school art club is helping bring the outdoors in at the Learn ‘n Grow Early Childhood Education Center. They created life-size animals for the school’s grasslands habitat. A rhino and her baby, a baby giraffe and cheetahs are just a few.
Mamma Mia Preview
The curtain opens on this year’s high school musical - Mamma Mia - on March 20th. With just about a month to go, a lot of work is happening on stage and behind the scenes. We talked with a few cast members this week and caught up with them at rehearsal for a preview! Check out the video!
Senior Lifelong Learning
This month’s Senior Lifelong Learning gathering featured information about our upcoming bond and musical guests! High school band students performed various ensemble musical selections that they recently took to Districts. The seniors were very impressed! These students all received Division I ratings at districts and will all perform at State next.

Propelling Otsego Forward
OPS’ bond proposal - Propelling Otesgo Forward - is coming up soon! Voters can start voting in late March if they request an absentee ballot with election day happening on May 5th. Our bond committee has been working very hard to develop a strategy to reach out to families and develop informational materials. A newsletter, focused entirely on the bond, will be mailed out to families next week. We have also launched a website: www.propellingotsegoforward.com. Please read through the site, and let us know if you have questions on the bond. A major point to know is that this bond WILL NOT RAISE TAXES. This is a ZERO MILL INCREASE proposal that would replace the current building and site sinking fund. Want to join the committee? Let us know!
