Calculating with percents
By Josie Hyde
Discounts, tax,tips,commission,and discount
Taxes tips and mark ups are finding a percent of a number an then adding it to the original number for a bill.
A discount is finding a percent and subtracting it from the original price.
A commission is how much someone gets from a sale
Taxes
I start my tax examples with the iPhone 5. The price of it was $99.00 without tax.the tax in summit county is 6.75 %.so when you add the tax is $6.78. So in all you would pay $106.78.(without tax)
Tips
The apps on the iPhone was great,so I left a 20% tip so my tax and original payment was $106.78 plus the tip would be $126.93.
Discount
Since the entire price so far is $226.93. I have a 20 % off gift card, the price comes out as $181.544.
MARK UPS
The mark up is the cost plus mark up the divide retail so for example an iPhone 5 is in cost of it is 106.78.
Commission
Commission is the amount you make off of something. For example the person you pay for the iPhone would get the commission not you.
