Davis Bilingual Magnet
April Newsletter
Dear Davis Families,
I hope this newsletter finds you well and filled with the warmth of spring! I want to extend heartfelt gratitude to all the families who participated in the Cesar Chavez March. Your presence not only honors the legacy of this remarkable leader but also underscores the importance of unity, justice, and equality within our community. Your support and involvement are invaluable to us, and we look forward to continuing to work together towards a brighter future for all.
Summer School Update:
As we approach the end of the school year, I wanted to provide you with an update regarding our summer school program. Regrettably, due to limited funds, we are unable to offer summer school to all students this year. However, we remain committed to providing targeted support to those who would benefit most from additional academic reinforcement. Summer school will be available to a limited group of students. Our aim is to identify students who may benefit from additional support to enhance their learning and ensure a successful academic journey. Families of students selected for summer school will receive invitations and detailed information in the coming weeks. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Mariachi Camp Updates:
We're thrilled to share that enrollment for our Mariachi camp will kick off on April 15th! Keep an eye out for more information coming your way in the next couple of weeks. Get ready for a fun-filled musical adventure—we can't wait for our annual summer camp to begin!
State Testing Information:
State testing for grades 3 through 5 will be taking place this month, spanning the first three weeks of April. We cannot overstate the importance of attendance during this period. To support your children during this time, here are some tips and encouragement:
- Ensure your child gets plenty of rest the night before each testing day.
- Provide a nutritious breakfast to fuel their minds and bodies for the day ahead.
- Encourage them to approach each question calmly and to the best of their abilities.
- Remind them that mistakes are a natural part of learning and that their effort is what truly matters.
- Reassure them that you believe in their capabilities and that you're proud of them, regardless of the outcome.
By fostering a supportive environment at home, we can help our students approach these assessments with confidence and determination.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education—we couldn't do it without you!
Warm regards,
Marisela Campillo
Tax Credit Update
Now through April 15th, 2024, you can take advantage of the Arizona Public School Tax Credit to pay the income tax you owe directly to Davis Bilingual Magnet. In the state of Arizona, you get your tax credit contribution back subject to the limits of your tax liability.
What should I mark when I make my donation online?
We are especially grateful for donations marked “Undesignated,” as that allows us to put your donation towards a specialist position on our campus (P.E., Garden, Art, etc). Thank you for supporting us as we raise funds to keep these important positions.
What if I already made a payment for Extended Day?
Many of you made a payment for Extended Day. Kindly note that you may be able to take advantage of the federal Child and Dependent Care Credit, as Extended Day supports parents who pay for childcare so that they may work outside of the home. Please consult your tax professional for more details. This may allow you to make an additional contribution to Davis (in addition to Extended Day) and claim the Arizona tax credit, for up to $400, per the information above.
Parent/Guardian Voice: Shaping Our School Together
Your feedback is incredibly important to us. We want to ensure that every member of our school community has the opportunity to share their thoughts, ideas, and suggestions. That's why we're excited to announce that a Parent Suggestions and Feedback Box is now located in the school office!
Please take a moment to stop by the office and drop off your suggestions and feedback. All submissions will be treated confidentially and with the utmost respect.
Additionally, we understand that staying informed about school events and updates is important to you. Therefore, we are pleased to inform you that hard copies of monthly newsletters are also available in the front office. If you prefer to receive information in this format, please feel free to stop by and pick up a copy at your convenience.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we can make our school community even stronger.

Improving Reading and Math at Home
We are continuously working to ensure our students make academic growth in math and reading . You can help us by encouraging your student to read nightly and/or work on one of TUSD's educational platforms. Research shows that doing just one extra session a day can have a tremendous impact on student learning. All students at Davis have access to wonderful resources such as Learning A-Z, and ST Math to support their continued growth in Reading and Math.
To access the various platforms, students just log into their Clever accounts and select the icons. Please contact your student's teacher if they have any trouble.
