Music Matters!
Singing songs! Playing instruments! Dancing! Did you know music sparks learning in many ways?
From the moment of birth, children's development in all areas is enhanced by music. Exposing children to music helps them learn sounds and builds vocabulary. Playing simple instruments like a xylophone or a drum helps with coordination and fine motor skills. Clapping and dancing to music helps develop gross motor skills. Memory, cognitive development, and communication skills are also improved through music.
So, sing a song together, read stories based on songs, dance, have a family parade! It is fun and easy to incorporate music into your day. You can do it when riding in a car, making dinner, or tucking your little one into bed at night. Adding music to your day will help your future kindergartner thrive. #CCPSKREADY
Here is a list of song based picture books that you may want to check out so you can sing along with your child!
See the two links below for a couple websites that use music to promote PK-K skills.
