Intermediate News
Just a quick note to keep you informed.
I have only received positive feedback on the new intermediate schedule. I hope that it is going well with you. I know that with the third graders - it will take a little longer to get them trained. But they seem to be hanging in there. I know you have been hesitant to move any students. Maybe after the Galileo tests and DIBELS, you will have enough information to make more informed decisions. I have faith that your group will do what is best for the students. :-)
I think our meet and greet and then the AIMS award assembly went well. There were many more smiles than I had anticipated so I was thrilled.
I hope to meet with your group on Tuesday during your specials time. If you have questions or concerns, we can talk about them during the meeting.
Remember, we are officially starting the DMS on Monday, August 25. We will be meeting each week to discuss the progress.
On Monday, August 25, I will be meeting with the Yuma Technology consortium to see if they can offer us any help. I'm not sure what they can do but they seem to think they can work with us to increase our bandwidth. If you have any problems regarding technology, please let me or Edie know so we can take steps to address them.
I will also be meeting with the administrators from around our area. We are in a consortium with them when it comes to our 6B SpEd money. Hopefully, some funds will be approved so we can hire another aide to help with our SpEd students. After returning from that meeting, I will be meeting with Mrs. Brooks to discuss staffing.
Hopefully, I can check in and see how things are going in each of your classrooms. You can always email me at ljamesonwes@yahoo.com or ljameson@welltonschool.org with questions or concerns.
Mr. Joe Grant contacted me and offered to work with classes and show them the water plant and explain the processes our water goes through. If you are interested, just let me know or you could contact Joe directly through the town hall. The town is working to try to offer more for the young people in town. They offered the summer program in our gym and I think the local field trip is another way they can involve our students in the town.
Also, on November 7, Yuma will be celebrating its 150 "birthday." They would like the area schools to be involved. The city administrator "Mr. Pickels" suggested projects, essays, artwork but they would really like to know what students could do. If you are interested, i do have some information I could give you.
I know you have been meeting and working very hard. I do really thank you for being so flexible and willing to take on a new schedule. I think you have done an awesome job and I know this will be a great year.
Thanks,
Lisa
