From the Principal
First, a BIG THANKS for your support of our APEX Fundraiser! I will meet with Apex next week to calculate our final numbers, but overall, it looks as if we did very well. I hated that we had to use the parking lot for our fun run, but we made it work. Thanks for all the family members that came out to cheer on our students.
We will begin Georgia Milestones testing on Monday, April 22nd. The schedule is as follows:
Monday, April 22nd - Writing
Tuesday, April 23rd-ELA/Reading
Wednesday, April 24th-Math
Thursday, April 25th (5th only)-Science
April 26 - May 3rd will be used for Make-Up testing.
Students and teachers have worked extremely hard all year for this week. Please make sure your child gets a good night’s rest. Also, please make sure they receive a healthy, filling breakfast. This is very important because lunch schedules are different during the week of testing. It is imperative that students arrive at school on time during testing week. Once testing begins, a testing session cannot be interrupted. If this happens, the student will go to study hall until testing is completed for that day. They will complete their test on one of the make-up days. Please do not send your child to school if they are sick. We ask students to do their best, but we do not try to add any additional stress. Please leave smart watches at home during testing week. Students will not be allowed to wear them during testing. This is a week for the students to show what they have learned this year, and we know they will do great!
Next month, May 6-10, is Teacher Appreciation Week. I hope you will take a few minutes and send an email or letter or maybe a sweet treat to your child’s teacher to let them know how much you appreciate all they do. Dr. Smith and I are very proud of our teachers and their hard work. They have gone above and beyond every day for their students. The BES Teachers are the BESt!
Our current cafeteria debt is over $1100. Please send in money to pay off any cafeteria debts. If you have questions, contact our Cafeteria Manager, Ms. Jenny at (706) 866-9183 or jhastick.bat@catoosa.k12.ga.us
