Where Has the Time Gone?
Greetings Hazel Harvey Families,
Can you believe we've reached the final month of the 2023-2024 school year? Time truly flies when you're having fun, and what a journey it's been! As we wrap up this chapter, let's reflect on the wonderful memories and achievements we've shared together. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our incredible students, dedicated staff, and supportive families for making this year truly exceptional.
As we bid farewell to this academic year, rest assured that the spirit of Hazel Harvey will continue to thrive in the months and years ahead. Our doors remain open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at the elementary, ready to welcome you with open arms.

May Students of the Month
Kindergarten
Cori H- Cori is a role model student. She tries her best each day and works hard to set an example for others. She is eager to help her friends as well as her teachers. Cori is liked by all of her peers because of her positive attitude and fun personality. She has made so much growth since the beginning of the year in math and reading. Cori is an exceptional student.
Addison P- Addison is a wonderful student. She is a hard worker and really comes up with some great ideas. She is excellent in writing sentences to make a story. She reads well too. She is kind and helpful to her classmates. She includes everyone. She is also good in math. You can be very proud of her.
First Grade
Carson M.- Carson has grown so much in first grade! He is a very sweet and hardworking student who tries his best in everything he does. Carson comes in every day with a smile on his face, and is polite to all of his classmates and teachers. He has become a motivated reader, especially when it’s anything about animals! Keep up the great work, Carson!
Ellie S- Ellie is a wonderful first grade student. She always has a smile and a positive attitude. She tries her best and listens to her teacher. She is definitely a rule follower. Ellie has a strong work ethic and is meticulous with her classwork. She has shown much growth and improvement throughout the year. When a fellow student needs help, she is the first one to offer assistance to him or her. Everyone in the class likes Ellie! They all want to sit by her in the classroom or at lunch. She is a quiet leader, and she is a friend to everyone! Her parents can be proud of this sweet, intelligent, hardworking and kind little girl. She is a gem! This honor of being named "Student of the Month" is well deserved. Congratulations, Miss Ellie!!!
Second Grade
Emma P- Emma has been having an amazing second grade year. She has such a helpful and kind personality. Emma has worked so hard this year and it is paying off with amazing results. She comes into my room almost daily just to say good morning even though she'll see me in an hour for class. I love having her in my class and we will miss her terribly next year. CIS, you're getting a great one!
Kaden S- Kaden is a stellar student. He is very motivated to complete his work to the best of his ability. He pays attention in class and finishes work in a timely manner. Kaden is a good friend and gets along well with others. He loves to play competitive educational games on the Chromebook and get on the leader boards! Way to go, Kaden!
Preschool Information
Preschool Graduation is Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
Morning class: 9:45-10:45
Afternoon class: 1:30-2:30
For graduation we will just be having the ceremony. Two adults may attend per student. The ceremony will be in our cafeteria.
This is a self-transport day. There is no busing. Please plan to bring your child and take them home.
A preschool “Celebration” is May 23, 2024.
Morning class: 10:00-11:00 This is a self-transport day. Please plan to bring your child and take them home.
Afternoon class: 12:30-1:30 This is a self-transport day. Please plan to bring your child and take them home.
Field Day is scheduled for the grade levels Thursday, May 23, 2024. We did not want to present any conflicts for families. Our 1 hour Celebration is an opportunity to be together one last time. No book bags are needed everything will be sent home before or at graduation. This is a voluntary event. Please send me a REMIND text to let me know if you plan to send your child for this one hour event.
Please continue to work on preschool to kindergarten skills and read to your child everyday throughout the summer. This will benefit your child greatly.
I highly recommend a preschool workbook. This is my favorite: Summer Bridge Activities® Workbook Grade PK-K Paperback should be around $12.99

Last Day of School- Family Picnic
We are inviting you (or a family member) to eat with your child on the last day of school on Thursday, May 30th. Weather permitting, we will be eating on the lawn. If not, we will eat in the cafeteria. We will be eating by grade level (see the times below). If you have children in multiple grades, we encourage you to have your child eat with their older sibling. After lunch you are welcome to take your child home with you to enjoy the beginning of summer break.
SECOND GRADE will be eating at 11:00
FIRST GRADE will be eating at 11:35
KINDERGARTEN will be eating at 12:10
You are welcome to purchase lunch through the school cafeteria (hot dog and sides). Adult lunches are $3.50. A form will be coming home with your child to complete for our end of the school year family picnic.
Second Grade Clap Out
Second Grade Families,
Join us for a heartwarming "clap out" celebration on Thursday, May 30th, at 10:55 AM, as we bid farewell to our beloved second-grade students before they embark on their next adventure at CIS. Families are encouraged to arrive by 10:45 AM to join in the applause and well wishes as our second graders march through the halls one last time.
Additionally, we'll be honoring Mr. Greg, our dedicated custodian, who is retiring after an incredible 22 years of service. Let's show our appreciation for all he has done for Hazel Harvey Elementary and Chippewa Local Schools. Thank you, Mr. Greg, you will be dearly missed!
