ILLINOIS STATE SCHOLARS
The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), the state agency committed to helping make college accessible and affordable for Illinois families, confers this prestigious recognition to top Illinois high school students annually. This year, more than 17,500 honorees join the other top students who have been honored for their academic achievements since the designation was first introduced in 1958.
The State Scholar Program recognizes students for outstanding academic achievement. State scholar designation provides honorary recognition to those students who have achieved academic excellence, and only the top ten percent of graduates from approved high schools are announced as State Scholars each year. These are students who perform in the top one-half of their high school class at the end of the seventh semester prior to graduation, and score in the 95th percentile on the SAT.
Marengo Community High School is proud to celebrate the recognition of the following students in the Class of 2024: Elizabeth Adams, Grant Aubry, Leo Bankel, Rune Boyd, Miya Castillo, Morgan Cetera, Alejandro Gerardo, Paola Montes, Jhonatan Morejon Cortez, Hir Patel,
Caden Sauder, Cody Stallings, Tess Volkers, and Emily White.
While the State Scholar recognition does not include a monetary prize, honorees will receive a personalized Certificate of Achievement, which will be presented at Senior Honors Night. Honorees can also download a digital Illinois State Scholar badge that can be displayed on their online profiles and social media platforms, and shared with high school counselors, prospective colleges, employers, family members and others.
CLASS OF 2024 HIGH ACHIEVERS
MCHS would like to recognize the following students as High Achievers by scoring at or over 1350 on the SAT. The score range for the SAT is 400 to 1600. Students who score 1350 or higher are in the 94th percentile (or higher). A score in this range can open doors to college admissions at selective universities and/or merit based college scholarships.
Congratulations to Grant Aubry, Leo Bankel, and Morgan Cetera. Your hard work and academic skills are commendable!
SUMMER SCHOOL 2024
MCHS is offering a comprehensive summer school this year to address the academic needs of our students. Students are highly encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities. The summer school offerings require students to be in attendance in-person at MCHS. All summer school offerings are subject to change based upon staffing and student enrollment.
MCHS students will have an opportunity to earn credit in any core classes they have failed either this school year, or during previous terms. Any student in grades 9-12 who have failed a core class in Math, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education/Health, or English should consider a MAP Credit Recovery since these are required classes toward graduation. A certified teacher will be available to assist students with the Educere online program during the summer months, therefore student attendance for in-person learning is required. Students who successfully complete any of the available courses will earn 0.5 credits/course. Below is the link to the MAP Credit Recovery flier and relevant information for those courses:
