Very Important Bits and Pieces to Note:
- We have 6 days of PEAK left before our open house!
- Open House: Monday, May 12 (more details to follow)
- Last Day of PEAK: May 19
- Students need to decide on a product for our consumer reports product test by next Monday (April 7). We will write the product test in class on April 7. If your child does not have his/her product idea, he/she will not be able to plan the test and won't be able to conduct the test on testing day. We will test on Monday, April 14. Your child needs 3 different brands. For instance, if he/she is testing chips then he/she needs three different chip brands. If your child is testing paint, then he/she needs three different paint brands. Please send in the testing items on Monday April 14.
- Feature Magazine articles were graded and handed back today.
- Please take the PEAK survey by March 31st (today!) - I appreciate the feedback! Click on the link below: (Elementary PEAK parent survey 2013-2014). Thank you! If you have more than one child in the program, you will need to use two different email addresses.

PEAK NEWS
Enrichment Centers:
- Topic Study: Students wrote their essential question (guiding question for the independent research topic). Everyone has finished vocabulary words and are working on a project for our open house.
- Science: Today we discussed how to write a survey to prepare for our Consumer Reports Test. We looked at open and closed (fixed) responses; rating scales and ranking questions. Surveys are a way to gather data. Each student will write a survey for the Consumer Reports Test. The focus of the survey is to gain information to compare results of the research/ testable question.
- Math: We continued in Algebra.
Theme Study:
- Today we continued to work on our virtual museums. Students are expected to include more information in the virtual museum than the feature magazine article.
- Students put their Virtual Museum in Drop Box so they could work on it at home.
POWER OF ONE PROJECT ALUMNI:
Please support the 2nd Annual one mile Family Fun Run for Hillcrest Hope:
When: April 13 at 5:00 PM
Where: Woodneath Pool Trail
Donation: $5 / person, $10 per family (register and pay the day of the event)
What: HIllcrest moves families from Homeless to Self-sufficiency in 90 days with an 85% success rate 5 years after graduation. This is a very successful organization that is much more than just homeless housing, and the administrative fee's are very low in comparison to the majority of not for profits. Our proceeds will support the Liberty complex located just a few blocks east of the Square. Last year the proceeds from the FUN RUN were able to purchase a basketball goal for the children who live at Hillcrest.
