The Sun
Lizzy Story
Sun layers
There are six layers of the sun.
THE SUN
Sunspots
Temporary phenomena on the photosphere of the Sun that appear visibly as dark spots
Core
The Sun's core is the central region where nuclear reactions consume hydrogen to form helium.
Radiative Zone
In the radiative zone, energy generated by nuclear fusion in the core moves outward as electromagnetic radiation.
Convective Zone
It extends from a depth of 200,000 km up to the visible surface of the Sun
Photosphere
The photosphere is the visible surface of the Sun that we are most familiar with.
Chromospere
The chromosphere is the second of the three main layers in the Sun's atmosphere and is roughly 2,000 kilometers deep
Corona
A corona is an aura of plasma that surrounds the sun and other celestial bodies.
Prominence
A solar prominence is a large, bright feature extending outward from the Sun's surface
Flare
A sudden brief burst of bright flame or light.
Aurora
An aurora, sometimes referred to as a polar light, is a natural light display in the sky, predominantly seen in the high latitude
regions.
