Dear Pawsome Loring Families,
I also wanted to share that the playground company was on-site working on the rubber footing this week. Our hope is to be able to open the playground in the next week or so. Before we open the playground, it will need to be inspected. Once that happens, each class will have an opportunity to visit the playground and learn about the different parts. We will be sharing a slide show with students and talking about the playground in classrooms and as part of our daily announcements. We are all so excited about our new playground and want to make sure it is a fun and safe experience for everyone!
Are You Leaving Loring?
Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This month is a celebration of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States and a time to recognize their contributions and influence to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States.
Asian/Pacific encompasses all of the Asian continent and the Pacific islands of Melanesia (New Guinea, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji and the Solomon Islands), Micronesia (Marianas, Guam, Wake Island, Palau, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru and the Federated States of Micronesia) and Polynesia (New Zealand, Hawaiian Islands, Rotuma, Midway Islands, Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Cook Islands, French Polynesia and Easter Island).
Here are some websites that include some great books and other resources that would help support learning at home.

MCAS Next Week
This week our 5th graders had Math MCAS and will have Science on May 12 and 13. Next week, our 4th graders will have Math MCAS and 3rd grade will have Math the following week.
Please continue to encourage your child to get sufficient rest the night before any tests, to eat breakfast, and to extend their best effort. Please make sure your child has their water bottle. Hydration is a key to concentration.
It is imperative that all children be in school during testing. Please try to avoid any appointments or trips that will prevent your child from attending school. It is also important that students arrive on time so teachers can take attendance and lunch counts and testing can start. If a student arrives after testing has started, they will need to take a makeup test on a different day. If your child is sick, they will take a makeup test when they are feeling better.
We are Still Looking for Lunch Room Volunteers
Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for multiple lunches on any given day, not just their child's lunch. Choose a date and time that works for you in our Signup Genius here!
Please contact Paula Saliga if you have questions about your CORI form or need to receive the training.
We're excited to have volunteers back in the school! Thanks so much for your support!

Students are taught the meaning of each word and how they make us better students and citizens.
Respect ~ Responsibility ~ Caring ~ Best Effort
The Loring Pledge
The Loring Pledge is said every morning during our daily announcements. Loring students embody our pledge and we hope this stays with them not only when they are at school but home as well.
