CCA hosts Veteran's Day Program
On Thursday, November 9th, from 9-10am, CCA held its annual Veterans Day Program in the CCA gym honoring those who served our country. Earlier that morning, the Patriot Honor Society served a biscuits and gravy breakfast for veterans and their families. Priscilla, the Student Council president, introduced the four JROTC members, two are CCA students, Clark and Oliver. The JROTC presented colors and the CCA band played the Star Spangled Banner. Hannah, Maggie, and Vivian lead the school in the pledge to the American flag, Bible, and Christian flag. Kade lead the audience in saying the American Creed.
Mr. Neil opened us up in prayer and then Kennedy introduced the keynote speaker, Mr. Ryan Campos. The Armed Forces Medley was played and Veterans stood when their branch song was played. Afterwards, the third and fourth graders sang God Bless the USA. Colten and Vivian introduced the poetry contest winners from third through eighth grade. This years’ winners were Dakoda, Macy, Carter B, Arianna, Kaitlyn, and Allie. Clark read the Missing Man Table and Oliver presented the table. There was a moment of silence and then Taps was played to close the assembly. Thank you, Veterans for your service!
Spanish II Trip
Last Monday, November 6th, the Spanish Ⅱ class traveled to Kansas City to visit the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. It is best known for its extensive collection of art from nearly every continent. The Museum supports over twenty Hispanic and Latino artists throughout the area. The students learned a lot about their culture and the celebration of Dia de los Muertos. It’s a fall tradition for Kansas City families to contribute to the display at the museum. Pictures, food, and art are displayed as a tribute to their lost loved ones. After visiting the museum, students visited the Spanish restaurant, La Bodega. The restaurant is a celebration of Spanish food and the culture of Northern Spain.
CCA Juniors visit Creation Museum
On November 1st, the Junior class traveled to Williamstown, Kentucky to participate in a College Expo that was taking place at the Answers Center. Students had the opportunity to meet with over thirty Christian Colleges throughout the United States. The Expo was a great way to get more information about their future options in furthering their education beyond high school. After that, they listened to different speakers who traveled around the world to spread the gospel. Then, the class went to the life-sized ark. It displayed the construction of the ark and how the animals fit during the flood.
The class also went to the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky. The museum makes the Bible come to life with all of its attractions. It gives an overview from the creation of man to Noah’s Flood. At the Creation Museum, they visited the Fearfully and Wonderfully Made exhibit. It is a display that has stunning special effects and details that shows how mankind is unlike the rest of God’s creation.
The whole trip was a unforgettable experience, which brought the Ark in the Bible to life!

Sporting Events for 11/13-11/19
Operation Christmas Child
We are down to our last few days of filling shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child if you are interested. Empty shoeboxes are available inside the front entrance of the main building. We are asked to make the $10 donation to sponsor the mailing of each box by either mailing the check in the envelope included in your empty box or by paying the $10 donation online. Please do not place the money/envelope inside the box this year. CCA will collect filled shoeboxes through Wednesday, November 15.
For more information about Operation Christmas Child, go to the following link: https://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/ . There are some great videos your family may want to watch together that feature many touching stories from children around the world that have given their hearts to Jesus because they were the recipient of a filled shoebox! Some of our high school students will be providing an additional service by volunteering to load the semi-trucks at the First Baptist Church, which is one of the area collection centers for OCC.
You can fill the box with whatever you want, but you also must abide by the rules. You cannot add candy, liquids, war-related toys, gum, used or damaged items, breakable or glass objects, medication or vitamins, or aerosol cans.

Survey Says
This week's survey says question was: Do you prefer to color or draw with colored pencils or markers? With a total vote of 77 to 34, colored pencils took the win! According to coloringfaith.com, for artists seeking uniform bodies of color, markers are your best bet. While colored pencils allow for fine precision and control. -Audrey
