Nitrogen Oxides
When N2 and O2 bind they can make NOx, NO, NO2,and N2O
the natural process of Nitrogen Oxide (NOx)
The process in which nitrogen oxides are becoming harmful to use are very intricate. let say that a forest is being burnt, the high temperature of the flames release the nitrogen oxide (NOx) into our air. when the nitrogen oxide (NOx) is put into our air the oxidize rapidly forming nitrogen dioxide (NO2). nitrogen dioxide is a green house gas. so when it is in our atmosphere it starts to deplete our ozone.
the anthropogenic process
N2O can be produce in many way that we can reduce. one of the way that it can produce is agriculture. Us as human would plant thing into our earth and then add nitrogen to our soil that make them the plants grow faster because of the synthetic fertilizer.another way in transpiration. when we use fossil fuel to power our motor vehicles they emit NO into the air. and lastly is our industry. when we try to make synthetic fertilizer in our companies it make a byproduct of nitric acid and is also released into the air.
let's get down to buissness
the good thing that could form nitrogen oxides is the nitrogen cycle. the nitrogen cycle gathers the NO2 and NO from the air and make a cloud. that cloud then then starts to rain depositing the nitrogen from the air into our soil. the soil then makes nutrient for our plants to grow more. the plants that soak in the NO from our air then are eaten by animal that we eat start a different cycle of the nitrogen cycle.
the bad thing about Nitrogen Oxides. first of all the impact the NO2 has on our ozone is tremendous. because of the way our society is set up all we do is make new and better stuff. when we try to create new thing it is harming our resources. Our society will produce so much NO it will become the second most dangerous pollutant to the environment. the NO in our ozone is not only depleting the ozone but the main ingredient in smog.
Nitric oxide by itself is non-toxic, but it it is readily converted in the air to nitrogen dioxide. At high concentration levels, nitrogen dioxide is potentially toxic to plants, can injure leaves and reduce growth yield. As one of the components of smog nitrogen dioxide is known to irritate the lungs. it increase susceptibility to respirator infection. Nitrous oxide is a green house gas as well
motor vehicle are the biggest NO emission into our environment because Nitrogen Oxides cannot oxidize without and oxygen and heat to create a chemical reaction. the chemical reaction that is caused when the fossil fuels are burn. motor vehicles makes up for 40% of nitrogen oxides in our air. in conclusion what we can do as human is less our use of fossil fuels make sure if we don't that we clean after our self with things such as a three ways catalytic converter
