LMS Tiger Talk
March 1, 2024
Principal's Message
Tiger Families,
Thank you to our 8th grade staff for their efforts in making the trips to the Holocaust and Humanity Center a success and providing a powerful and moving learning experience for our students this week. If you haven't had the chance to visit the museum, we highly recommend it. While it documents a horrific time in humanity's history, it truly is beautifully done with resonating themes of perseverance, hope, love and overcoming hardships. A wonderful, real and relevant learning experience for our students. Also a big thank you our parent chaperones who were able to join! We are also thankful to the Ohio Holocaust and Genocide Memorial and Education Commission who fully funded this trip through a grant which we applied for and were awarded.
We're heading into the final week of 3rd quarter! Please check in with your student to make sure any missing work is getting turned in prior to our last day on Thursday. A reminder there is no school on Friday, 3/8 as our staff will be hard at work for a district inservice and work day.
A restful weekend to you all.
Take care and Go Tigers!

Band Winter Concert
Our 7th and 8th grade bands performed alongside the LHS Wind and Symphonic Bands for their winter concerts this past week. It was awesome to hear all these students playing together, and seeing the connections between our LMS and LHS music program.

Reminders
Calendar Change: No School on Monday, April 8, 2024
Loveland Tiger Families,
There will be no school for students on Monday, April 8, 2024. A total solar eclipse will cross over Ohio that day, and we’re canceling classes to allow families to experience the eclipse together.
The timing of the eclipse presents a safety challenge. The eclipse will stretch over a period of about two hours around afternoon dismissal time. Students would be on buses, walking, or driving home when the eclipse hits its peak, making it very challenging for students to view this once-in-a-lifetime event safely.
This is the first total solar eclipse in Ohio in more than 200 years. The Ohio Department of Workforce and Development is warning that traffic could be heavy and cell service or internet service could be impacted because of the large number of people expected to visit the state.
I understand that a change to the schedule may be an inconvenience for families, which is why we’ve made this decision now, to give everyone time to prepare. Staff will still be reporting to work on April 8 and will use the time for professional development and training.
You can find more information about how to safely view the eclipse here:

School Drop-Off Procedures
We have seen an uptick in our morning drop-off traffic with the colder temperatures and we wanted to take a moment to remind everyone of the drop-off procedures. For the safety of our students and purposes of efficiency (and making this process as quick as possible for all of you!), It is very important that ALL people follow these instructions during this busy part of the day:
- For those families dropping off and/or picking up your child from the LIS/LMS campus, you will pull in the main entrance and you will have to follow the line in the picture below before dropping off or picking up your student(s). You MUST follow this line all the way around the back of the building - DO NOT turn left immediately to the front drive of the building. This causes back-ups and unsafe conditions for students walking or riding their bike to school.
- The area where students are dropped and picked up remains in the front of the building. You will pull all the way up in front of the main LIS/LMS entrance before your student(s) leaves or enters the car. PULL ALL THE WAY UP to the end of the drop-off area (designated by signs) before your child exits the vehicle. This allows more students to be exiting their vehicle at the same time and improves efficiency. Please see the pictures below for the traffic pattern and drop-off area locations.
- Car riders, please also be aware that we will have students walking and riding their bikes to school each day. Please be careful and keep an eye out for students crossing the street and driveway around our campus. You can see the marked crosswalk locations in the picture below where students and pedestrians should be crossing.
If everyone follows the process accordingly, we know it to be the most efficient and safe process possible given the volume and our campus layout. We appreciate everyone's cooperation in following the established process for our car riders. If you have any questions, please let us know.
