IREAD-3
Today is the day!! I am confident that everyone did great....just another 'thing' we have to do!
Parent Conferences
Conference week is March 11 - 14. Last week I sent out a Google Calendar invite with time slots to sign up for a conference time. It can be an in-person, virtual (Zoom), or phone conference -- whichever you prefer. Please sign up for a conference time HERE as soon as you can, thanks! The sign up link is also posted on the front page of our class webpage. I will send you a confirmation slip at least 24 hours before our meeting; I will email you a link 24 hours before any virtual conferences. Thanks!
End of 3rd Quarter
The end of Quarter 3 is this Friday, March 8th! Report cards will be available on the Parent Portal on Monday afternoon. If you need a printed copy, just email me and I'll be happy to print one for you and send it home.
Preamble Memorization Assignment
As part of our study of U.S. Government, students have been assigned the task of memorizing the Preamble to the Constitution. An assignment sheet came home last week and is attached to the newsletter email. Students may recite privately to me anytime from now through March 22nd.
Pi Day
Every year, our class celebrates math on Pi Day -- March 14 (3.14). We will learn all about Pi, what it is, how it originated, and what it is used for. One fun, optional activity is for students to learn the number for Pi out to as many places as possible. We will have a recitation "contest" on the 14th to see just how far they can go. And the prize for the longest memorizations? PIE, of course!! A flyer is in backpacks today. Again, this is optional, but always so fun every year. Someone always amazes me with how much they can remember --- one year, someone got to 185 digits!!!
Eagle Cam
Each day, we check in on an Eagle Cam, located in Big Bear, California. The bonded eagle pair, Jackie (female) and Shadow (male), are fascinating to watch. Last week, Jackie added a 3rd egg to her clutch! We are hoping for some eaglets at the beginning of March! If students (and you) would like to check in on the eagles at home, here is the YouTube LINK.
Book It!
February Book It sheets are due this Fri., March 1st. Don't forget the parent signature!! (this is an optional activity). March Book It! sheets will come home this day, too.
Attendance Line and Dismissal Changes
If your child is going to be absent from school, the office asks you to please call the Hershey Attendance Line at 765-269-8342. Also, if there is a change in your child's dismissal, please call the Hershey Office directly before 2:30 at 765-269-8280 rather than emailing the teacher(s).....we don't always check our email and don't want to miss anything. Thanks!!
