The Media and Media Literacy
The Media is a deceiving, mass manipulation concept. People are being told false and misleading information from the so called “creditable” sources from newspapers, television, and the internet. These informants bring bias material to sway the public from actually coming up with their own opinions. Time and time again, you seen governments all around the world that have used the media to gain control of public opinion. Unexplained events and mysterious facts only bring people to question, therefore the fact has to be covered and distorted. Do you know what truth is being told or are you just taking in everything you want to hear. I believe the true meaning of being media literate is actually spending time researching information on your own rather than taking in propaganda from the controlled presses. It is less time consuming to watch the local TV station or read an article from the daily newspapers but the truth is, you are being lied to. If we truly saw what the media is in its true light, you be surprised on what you are taking in. Relying on the media is just like reading a book handed by one person and one person only. You might believe everything what the author says but the fact is, you are getting brainwashed. If you open your eyes, you will see there are penalty of other books where the truth lies.

Soylent Green the Ultimate Future Food
Yeong Jae Shin, Food Reporter
OAKLAND- In the dystopian and sci-fi movie Soylent Green, overpopulation and poverty causes the government to miraculously mass-produce a color food ration called soylent green, which is revealed to be processed dead people.
But Rob Rhinehart, software engineer and the creator of a real-life food substitute supplement called Soylent, says the nutritional mixture of chemicals without including dead people in the ingredients is the next big thing.
“I was eating lettuce or kale or something and I remember thinking it was very strange that I would eat leaves as a human,” said Rhinehart in a documentary, later seen eating a tomato.
He believes his self experimented and tested Soylent cocktail will in the long run replace agricultural based food in the not so distant future.
The Soylent company includes his collogues and a couple of hired people in an old garment factory. Rhinehart wants to make the most of his limited resources therefore cleanliness and rat infestation might not a priority, however the expenses that were not spared can be used to test more chemicals.
By conquering food and moving it out of life's way, no longer is it required to painfully sit down and with eat someone. Those awkward small talk situation will be gone in a matter of seconds with Soylent.
Why bother with using your tooth and facial muscles when you can just drink your nutritional needs? Your body will no longer break down harsh solid foods. You’ll help your stomach not constantly work as hard.
If you would like the not FDA certified and only 30 day experimented product as a your food replacement order at https://campaign.soylent.me/soylent-free-your-body
“Dad’s Sixth Sense” Hyundai Precis
In the YouTube commercial video, “Dad’s Sixth Sense” (2014), Hyundai Motor Company, a multinational automaker, depicts that the Genesis’ Automatic Emergency Braking system can protect prepubescent driving teens from accidents and that fathers all over America do not have to worry about close calls or saving situations from average everyday parenting ever again. Hyundai illuminates this by reminding parents how many times they had to save their kids from careless falls and mistakes, while the sweet tune of Bruno Mars’s “Count on Me” is playing in the background. Using from the parent’s past experiences, Hyundai over stresses the safety of kids and uproots the cliché of irresponsible teenagers in order to bring into light that parents can’t always be there for their kids when trouble comes by. Bringing a warm, light humorous tone into safety, Hyundai introduces the audience, which are concerned parents with fresh off the boat driving teens.
Secrets- One Republic: Theme song
From the popular and billboard hits of 2009, Secrets by One Republic became a song that people sang to find a purpose and enlightenment in their life. By giving its main theme, “I’m gonna give all my secrets away”, the songwriter, Ryan Tedder, told the world he is going to uncover himself and not remain a quiet guy who isn’t going to live life to the fullest. This song in the contrast is similar to the theme of the torture scene of the book 1984 by George Orwell.
The main character, Winston Smith is in the torture chamber called the Room 101 of the Ministry of Love. The tormenter, O’Brien manipulates Winston into thinking that he is lost and gone astray from the ultimate power of the all controlling all seeing Big Brother. Winston in conflict with starvation, deprivation, and “therapy”, he admits to everything O’Brien tells him to confess to and ultimately betrays his secret love left when with rats, his greatest fear. Winston specifically says “what do you want me to say” and is left with no answer. O’Brien wants him to tell him his “secrets”. In the bridge the song secrets proclaims that, “Oh, got no reason, got not shame. Got no family I can blame. Just don't let me disappear. I'mma tell you everything”. The song Secrets fits perfectly with Winston’s inner struggle. Desperate for the torturing to stop, Winston is willing to be “honest with himself” and give up. He has nothing to lose because his family and loved ones had disappeared and he was past his breaking point.
Secrets lyrics by Onerepublic
I need another story
Something to get off my chest
My life gets kinda boring
Need something that I can confess
Til' all my sleeves are stained red
From all the truth that I've said
Come by it honestly I swear
Thought you saw wink, no
I've been on the brink, so
Tell me what you want to hear
Something that were like those years
Sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away
This time, don't need another perfect line
Don't care if critics never jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away
My god, amazing how we got this far
It's like we're chasing all those stars
Who's driving shiny big black cars
And everyday I see the news
All the problems that we could solve
And when a situation rises
Just write it into an album
Singing straight, too cold
I don't really like my flow, no, so
Tell me what you want to hear
Something that were like those years
Sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away
This time, don't need another perfect line
Don't care if critics never jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away
Oh, got no reason, got not shame
Got no family I can blame
Just don't let me disappear
I'mma tell you everything
So tell me what you want to hear
Something that were like those years
Sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away
This time, don't need another perfect line
Don't care if critics never jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away
So tell me what you want to hear
Something that were like those years
Sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away
This time, don't need another perfect line
Don't care if critics never jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away
All my secrets away, All my secrets away
The Conclusion
The Media Literacy course passed the semester undeniably fast with continuous writing after writing after writing. I am not really a fan of language arts in general, however with media literacy I came to realize that “if there is hope it lies in” literacy. In my past language art classes, I was just a kid who thought I could write like how the teacher wanted me to write. This class taught me to never underestimate the most genuine language arts teacher, Miss. Hicks. My first impression of this class was that I thought this course was a hassle and a pain in the butt. Every day, we had a big summative assignment, a précis, and more reading to do, but now that I think about it, these tasks were more than just busy work. Media Literacy on its own is the biggest thing mankind has ever made. And without being able to comprehend information and express your ideas, you become a fool. A fool that thinks that they know what they are talking about when they don’t understand at all. I was a fool to think that I knew everything there is to know about the big media. In the end, I became a believer in the media literacy conspiracy. This class defiantly grew on me over the few couple of weeks I had. To be honest, there is nothing that needs to change about this class. Everything needs to be just the way it is. Media is growing and if you don’t keep up you’ll be run over by its gigantic breaking-news coverage. I’ll miss this class very dearly. Everything that you taught me will stay with me forever and forever. “The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.”
