Centennial's Newsday Tuesday
Families' Weekly Newsletter2/1/2022
A Note from the Principal
Hi, Centennial Families!
We are hoping you're enjoying this mild Tuesday (so far!)
We're guessing that you, like us, are monitoring the weather closely. At this writing, our district leaders are requesting that all students bring home their devices today (not because we're going remote this week; if we have school closures due to inclement weather this week, they will count as snow days. The devices are being sent home as a precaution in case the winter storm should cause closures into next week (Feb. 7). More details are forthcoming and we are all grateful for the flexibility of our Centennial community as we navigate this potential challenge.
Thank you to all of our parents who attended our Conscious Discipline Training and EPS Bond Presentation last week!
Dr. Ging wowed us by sharing with us how we may adjust our response to our children's brain states to support them appropriately with handling their emotions in a healthy and productive way.
We had a good turn-out of parents from both Centennial and Redbud! Special thanks to our upper-grades counselor, Anna Robinson, for coordinating our parent engagement night, and to our PTO Parents who brought snacks and beverages for our families! We hope to have more such events to support our awesome Centennial families and we look forward to hosting you again soon!

Let's Talk: Reading and Math Growth
Centennial Families, we have much to celebrate in regards to our students' growth in reading and math this year!
As our teachers just completed administering their middle-of-year screening tests to track their students' academic growth, we saw tremendous gains overall, with our instructional outcomes looking very good, despite the challenges we've faced both this year and since Spring of 2020.
Teachers will soon be sharing your students' individual growth reports with you, and below, please reference the Grade Level Growth reports below to see how our students, as a whole, are progressing.
For your reference, areas in:
- green represent the %-age of students in the grade level performing on or near grade level
- yellow represents the %-age of students performing about .5-1.5 year(s) below grade level (and receiving targeted interventions)
- red represents the %-age of students performing about 2 years below grade level (and receiving targeted interventions)
There is truly no other place like Centennial! We celebrate this growth and the great work done by our students, our staff, and you, our families!
Please check out the many exciting and important things happening at Centennial in the announcements below!
With appreciation and kind regards,
Ellie Webb, Principal
