Summit Middle School
8th Grade Promotion & Awards Ceremony
Dear Summit Families,
The ending of this school year is a particularly special one for you and your student. Not only are they ending another year, but they are preparing to begin a new chapter as high school freshmen next fall. This is an exciting and busy time, and in an effort to help this be a time of celebration instead of stress, we wanted to send home information for you to be aware of in the upcoming weeks.
On Tuesday, May 17th, we will hold a Promotion & Awards Ceremony starting at 9:00 a.m. in the main sanctuary at Life.Church OKC, located just 3 miles north of Summit at 2001 NW 178th St. This will be an opportunity for us to recognize and celebrate the achievements of all of our eighth grade students. We ask that families have students at Life.Church by 8:30 a.m. to get organized and for parents to find seats. Any students whose parents will not be attending will be bussed to Life.Church from Summit. Dress is business casual attire (khakis/slacks and collared shirts for young men, dresses/skirts/slacks for young women) and must meet school dress code. The ceremony will end at approximately 11:00. Parents are encouraged to spend the rest of the day celebrating with their students. Afternoon absences will be excused. All families must check their student out with their 4th hour teacher to take them home from Life.Church after the ceremony. Students not going with parents will be shuttled back to Summit for the remainder of the school day.
You may bring gifts for your student but balloons, posters, signs & noisemakers will not be permitted. Please also refrain from bringing any other items that may be a distraction during the ceremony. Life.Church has been gracious in accommodating us at such late notice. Please be respectful of their facility as we hope to be invited back in the future.
