Buniewicz Classroom News - 2/20
Mr. Buniewicz's 5th and 6th Grade Newsletter
First off, I would like to praise the students on all of their hard work on their History Day projects. There were so many important lessons hidden in each of their projects, from finding proper sources to identifying 'fake news,' to working with groups that didn't always get along and persevering in the face of challenges. If you weren't able to come, just know you should be super proud of your wonderful children. They all worked so hard!
Secondly, there will be no Work Folders or work being passed out this Thursday by either myself or Mrs. Burt due to the wild nature of this week.
History Day - Next Steps
- Students have lost interest and motivating students to stay on task was often like pulling teeth the past few weeks.
- We have spent a ton of time on this and I would like to move on in class.
- We still have some work to do before submitting the projects to the judges, including writing a process paper, polishing up a bibliography, and fixing our presentations.
I took a straw poll in class about who really, really wants to go to History Day at LSSU, and I had two hands up in the air. If you and your student want to participate and put in the extra effort outside of school, please contact me by TOMORROW, February 21st, so that we can talk and maybe figure something out.
In class...
Next Week, 5th and 6th grade will start new Social Studies units. 6th grade will start one of my favorite units about Economics, whereas 5th grade will be starting an in-depth look at the geography of the United States.
