"Bee" Mindful in Remote Learning with Ms. Faliveno
By Amy Joyce
Washington Post
Like a lot of families, we've been doing this remote learning thing for a year now. I wasn't trained to be a teacher, and it shows. So when our fifth grader finally got the chance to get back inside school on a hybrid model a few weeks ago, we were thrilled. We also were wary because as much as we wanted him to slip right back in and feel confident, happy and excited to learn, of course there would be a few bumps along the way. Our brave little souls are marching into a completely changed system: socially distant, smaller classes, teachers who may be in person or may be on Zoom, masks, lunch at their desks, and the very confusing no-touch-recess. ("How are we supposed to play flag football without touching anyone?!")
So as happens when things like this pop up in my own home, I realized others are feeling it, too, and went to experts to ask for some guidance. I hope this piece is helpful to you. Now for me to put some of these ideas into practice.
