The Pizitz Post
for Students, Parents & Families - February 20, 2024
Character Education & Wellness
During this second semester, our teachers and counselors will be providing lessons on prevention, life skills, and character education during academic strategies class once weekly. These lessons are a school-wide approach to address mandated topics and strengthen character education.
In addition to discussing the development of our core values, sixth graders will participate in lessons about safety, coping skills, making decisions, and technology-use. Seventh and eighth graders will participate in grade-specific lessons covering bullying and substance abuse prevention.
We believe that students are best supported when schools and families work together for the betterment of the whole child. We hope to empower students to make healthy choices that will protect their safety, enhance interpersonal skills, and build strong character. In addition to the development of our core values, teachers and counselors have access to PATH materials from Thriveway for prevention.
Along with these lessons, we are proud of the group of seventh and eighth grade students at Pizitz who recently completed the Peer Helpers training to be a great resource for peer support in our school. You can learn more about Peer Helpers here.

Supporting Students in Our Community
Rebels Helping Rebels is a grace fund that helps financially support Vestavia Hills students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. The fund is primarily designed to pay school-related fees for various activities. The goal of Rebels Helping Rebels is to ensure that cost is not a reason why a student does not participate in a school activity or has the supplies he or she needs to be successful. Find out more information to donate or request support here.
