Warrior Weekly News
A Weekly Newsletter for Warrior Families and Students
February 23, 2024
Greetings Warrior Families and Friends,
It has been another action-packed and exciting week here at MHS! Seriously, in every direction you looked, our Warriors were showing the world what hard work, discipline, and determination can accomplish. It shined brightly as the cast and crew wowed audiences with their stellar performances of Chicago. It shined as Carter Jewell swam the 2nd fastest 500 Yard Freestyle in state meet history on his way to becoming a STATE CHAMPION! Our wrestling programs continued the momentum and has 7 boys and 4 girls battling in the WIAA individual state championship this weekend. Additionally, our Cheer team continues to build upon their outstanding season and will compete in their state championship event this weekend as well. Our boys basketball team ended their regular season play with an exciting victory and our girls basketball team begins its WIAA playoff journey tonight in the Salentine gym. Not to be outdone, our amazing robotics team unveiled their 2024 Warrior Bot and appears to be ready to make a run to qualify for world championships competition. And, of course, there continues to be plenty of learning derivatives, stoichiometry, artistic expression, world languages, conjugations of verbs, and countless other skills to prepare our students to be career, college, and community ready. Seriously, we have awesome students! In every direction you look, you see young adults striving to become their best selves and exemplifying the Warriors Way. Yes, indeed, there is so much to be proud of.
It truly is an honor to share some of our highlights from week to week. Please know that these successes would not be possible without the incredible partnerships we have with you! This strong partnership is the foundation for all of the great things to come.
Have an awesome weekend and GO WARRIORS!

ACADEMIC SPOTLIGHT- ACTUARIAL SCIENCE
The students learned all about the Actuarial Science Profession at Northwestern Mutual's downtown campus on Friday, 2/16. They started the morning with an introduction, then went to three breakout sessions which talked about the exams, the career, and one where students tried solving a case study. Then we came back together as an entire group and had two presenters talk about their day to day who were early in their career and then a panel of presenters who spent years in the profession. One of the presenters was actually Spiros Demopoulos, an MHS grad who I had in AP Calculus AB! We also had a VIP tour from one of our students' parents who gave us a tour of the building (including taking us up to the top floor!). Our students asked so many great questions and left feeling motivated!
Our field trip included: Emerson Rush, Preston Greene, Megan Reedy, Macy Sheahan, Riley Hill, and Kaylyn Murray.
Drug-Free Environment Mid-Year Update
Twice per year, MHS administration provides the board of education with an update on data and our efforts towards a drug-free learning environment. You may view this presentation from 38:30 to 55:00 of the February 12th school board meeting. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership with these efforts.

ACP
As we usher in the month of March, we are excited to share information on our upcoming Academic and Career Planning (ACP) activities on March 5th. At MHS, we recognize the significance of preparing our students for future success. The month of March, our focus is on Financial Literacy, a crucial aspect of career readiness. Engaging in these ACP activities not only equips our students with essential life skills but also empowers them to make informed decisions about their academic and professional journeys.
9th Grade - Introduction to Money Path:
This month, our freshmen will delve into the Money Path tool, designed to assist students in comparing various post-secondary pathways. Through this exploration, they will gain valuable insights into different educational and career options, setting the foundation for informed decision-making as they progress through high school.
10th Grade - Building Your Budget:
Sophomores will embark on a practical journey by building their own budgets. Understanding the fundamentals of financial planning is an integral part of preparing for life beyond high school. This hands-on experience will help students develop essential budgeting skills that are crucial for managing personal finances in the future.
11th Grade - Understanding Credit Scores:
Juniors will dive into the world of credit scores. This ACP activity aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of how credit scores impact their financial well-being. Armed with this knowledge, our students will be better equipped to make informed financial decisions as they transition to higher education or enter the workforce.
12th Grade - Making Credit Decisions and Understanding Loans:
Seniors will focus on making credit decisions and understanding loans. As they approach the next chapter of their lives, this activity will empower them to navigate the complexities of credit responsibly and comprehend the nuances of various loan options available to them.
The Importance of Career Readiness:
Career readiness is a key component of our educational mission at Muskego High School. It goes beyond academic achievement, encompassing the skills, knowledge, and experiences that prepare students for success in their chosen career pathways. By engaging in ACP activities, our students not only gain a deeper understanding of their interests and goals but also acquire the practical skills necessary to thrive in an ever-evolving professional landscape.
Opportunities for Parent Involvement:
We invite parents to actively participate in our ACP initiatives. Your involvement plays a crucial role in supporting and guiding our students through their academic and career journeys. Parents have the opportunity to create their parent accounts on Xello, a platform we use to house some of our ACP activities. In addition, please take some time to check out our ACP Rolling Agenda on our website.
Thank you for your continued support in fostering the academic and career success of our students.
A Message from Mr. Andy Bavlnka
Dear Warrior Families,
I am incredibly honored and humbled to serve as the next principal of Muskego High School, beginning on July 1st. Stepping into this role fills me with immense pride and excitement, knowing the incredible potential within these walls, both in our students and our dedicated staff.
My passion lies in igniting the spark of curiosity in each student, fostering a love for learning, and providing them with the tools and opportunities to grow into well-rounded individuals. A great education goes beyond an amazing curriculum; it's about preparing our students for success in whatever path they choose; we want our students to be college, career, and community ready.
I look forward to the opportunity to meet with our students and families to build a strong home to school partnership. One of my core beliefs about education is that it is important to connect students to school with engaging classrooms, phenomenal co-curricular opportunities, and through the relationships we build as a staff with our students.
The students are doing amazing things at MHS and I look forward to the important work of continuing to find new ways for all of our students to grow and shine.
Please reach out if you have any questions or are interested in sparking a conversation.
Go, Warriors!
Andrew Bavlnka

EDUCATORS RISING
Our very own Muskego High School Educators Rising Chapter is running a book drive! In case you don’t know what Educators Rising is, it is a nationally recognized club that is for students exploring the field of education. The chapter here in Muskego leads a teacher appreciation breakfast, classroom shadowing experiences, and also competes at a State Summit in March in many different education related topics. We even had two national competitors last year!
As part of the State Summit, our club is participating in the book drive service project. You can help us by looking around your house for any gently used early childhood to middle school age books. We also accept newly purchased books.
The drive will take place from February 12th-March 1st.
This is for students and staff.
Bring book donations to the MHS Library.
We are excited to bring these books with us to the State Summit on March 6th.
Thank you for your support, MHS Educators Rising 😊
Our Educators Rising Crew celebrated National Educators Rising Week showing their excitement for the field of education with their new gear and some time to share their appreciation for a few of their MHS teachers. “There’s Power in Teaching” and we can’t wait to see the amazing things these future educators do to impact students.

MHS Student Parking
Dear Warrior Families,
We have reached the point in the school year where we have sold and fulfilled the number of parking passes for students that equals the number of student parking spots we have on the high school campus. We know that it is an exciting time in a teenagers life when they get their driver's license and want to continue to provide parking for new drivers moving forward. At this time if a student were to need to purchase a parking pass, it would be for our "satellite" parking lot by the soccer field. There will be a satellite lot specific parking pass issued to the student at a reduced rate of $20, students would need to register their vehicles just as in any other case. These parking passes can be picked up in the Athletic/Activities Office and paid for through Infinite Campus.
Just as a reminder, any vehicle on campus without the appropriate parking pass may be ticketed by the City of Muskego Police Department.
