Library News
Building a community of readers is a lifelong process. In November, we celebrated "DINOvember" by highlighting books in fiction/nonfiction about dinosaurs as well as creating some dinosaur mischief. Activities in the library of this kind promote reading as well as using our imagination to read and write. We also hosted an author, Sherry Garland, who shared a "writer's workshop" with many of our fourth graders who are interested in writing. Think about what you might be doing at home this month to promote reading. Simple activities like creating lists for Santa, shopping, or points of gratitude promote reading in your home. Children can do simple things like following directions to create an arts and crafts project and become stronger readers in the process! If you create a print-rich home environment, you are helping to build a strong reader! When children see that YOU value reading, they learn to value it, too! We are in this together! Happy Holidays!
Core Essential Value for December
PTO Holiday Shop
PTO is hosting a Holiday Shop for the kids to buy gifts for their parents, siblings or friends. The items range from $0.75 - $12.00 each. The shop will be open from December 7th - 10th in the conference room. The kids will shop during their PLC time. PTO will be sending out a letter and a budget for parents to sit down and plan with their kids soon.
