Holley-Navarre Primary is a Title I School-What Does This Mean?
We qualify as a Title I School because our free/reduced lunch counts are currently over 40%. This identification is a big advantage to our school because we receive additional federal support to help meet the needs of our students. Title I places an emphasis on targeting students with academic needs and focuses resources where they can most benefit students. Title I also supports parent involvement activities and education. You can help us by completing a free and reduced lunch application at: https://www.myschoolapps.com/Application. This application needs to be completed each school year.
Holley-Navarre Primary also houses a Parent Involvement Center with resources for parents. This is located right outside the front office area. The Parent Resource Center has informational brochures, Title I information and literature for parents to support their children at home. Additionally, we have laptops and printers available for parents to complete surveys, registrations in FOCUS, Free/Reduced Lunch Applications, etc. For more information, please contact Mr. Balsavich or visit our website.
The Florida Department of Education has announced the release of the 2022-23 School, District and State Report Cards in the Know Your Schools Portal (http://knowyourschoolsfl.org). These report cards continue to serve as a valuable resource for parents, educators and stakeholders by offering transparency into how Florida’s districts and schools are doing with regard to student achievement and success.
The 2022-23 Florida Report Cards provide performance data and additional education information and outcomes compared to prior years’ data in easy to understand formats, and a “Map and Compare Schools” tool that allows families to search and compare schools. School accountability data contained within these report cards will be updated, if applicable, following the conclusion of the appeals process. The department will continue to update information in these report cards throughout the year as new data become available.
Title I Survey
Transportation
Is your child's transportation changing for the day? The week? Or permanently? If so, please use the Holley-Navarre Primary Change of Transportation Form found on our website or in your child's folder. Additional copies are available in the front office. We will not take transportation changes over the phone, by email, or other apps. used by your child's teacher. This is for the safety and security of your child.
Morning Drop-Off: Parents, a huge THANKS to all of our car rider and walker parents for such an amazing smooth start to the school year. Our car rider boys and girls are doing such a great job getting ready in the morning and being prepared for our staff to open their car door. For our walker parents, thank you for your understanding as we made the adjustment to say our good-byes and give hugs and kisses at the flag pole and allow our deputy to cross your child safely at the cross walk. If you are a walker and are in need of a walker tag, please feel free to come in the front office and we will issue you a walker pass and lanyard.

News from Guidance & PBIS-Mrs. Woll & Ms. Huntsman
The guidance department will continue to assist students throughout the month of May. We are working with the district to get information out regarding a summer breakfast and lunch - keep a lookout for info soon. If you need assistance over the summer, please contact Mrs. Woll (wollj@santarosa.k12.fl.us). We are here for our families - even during the summer. We would love to hear from our Sandpipers over summer break. Feel free to check-in via email and let us know what you are up to - we really do miss our students when they aren't here. We hope everyone has a spectacular summer and can't wait to see our families in August!
Physical Education News
Students are enjoying the Spring weather and being active outside at PE. This month we will continue playing a variety of cooperative games that focus on movement, coordination, throwing, flexibility, and sportsmanship. We encourage our boys and girls to stay active each day and get 30 minutes of additional exercise. The coaches are so proud of the great effort, determination, and enthusiasm we see each day at PE.
Please continue to ensure that your child is wearing appropriate shoes to PE. We ask that students change into tennis shoes before coming to PE if they are wearing Crocs or sandals to school. With the warmer weather now, we are encouraging students to drink plenty of water and to bring a water bottle daily to PE.
Thank you for your support this school year and we hope everyone has a safe and wonderful summer!
Military Families
We have kicked off our Anchored for Life -peer to peer program with 10 new students. https://anchored4life.com/
Our first and second grade Anchored for Life leaders have been doing a great job with new student visits and tours. Hoping to expand the program next year.
ESOL News
Music News from Mrs. Eddins
Music students are now able to sing/sign/identify the solfege pitches in a scale. We are continuing to learn about the placement of the musical alphabet on the lines/spaces of the treble clef staff. Just as the pitches in a scale can move by step/skip/leap, notes on a musical staff can as well. Students are learning that a musical note tells us 2 things (How long/short a sound is and what pitch to sing or play). Each line/space on the treble clef staff reflects a letter of the musical alphabet. We are singing spring-time seasonal songs and enjoying music/movement activities. The culmination of our semester will be to play pitched instruments while tracking the notes on the treble clef staff (alone and with others). Reading and Playing Music!!!
