A Message from the Principal
Dear Sheridan Families,
It was a pleasure to open our doors last night for Family Sharing Night! Our Sharks were so excited to celebrate their learning and special projects with you. It’s always a whirlwind of excited kids, photo ops, and rushing about to point out each-and-every special person who makes coming to school so fun every day! Didn’t the school look AMAZING?! The artwork lining the halls is so cheerful and we are especially excited about the new Sheridan Sharks mural in the gym, a gift from the graduating class of 2024. We are so proud of our Sharks and all they have accomplished this year. Thank you for spending part of your evening with us!
Next week is the APT Spring Food Drive. All children have the opportunity to participate, Early Childhood through 4th grade. This is a wonderful opportunity to reinforce the importance of sharing and giving back to the community. Every item adds up! See the APT section below for specific food items for each grade level.
Next Wednesday, May 1st, is the annual ACES walk. ACES stands for “All Children Exercise Simultaneously.” This is a school-wide event, and parents are invited to join us! Please see the MAP of the route we will take. We invite you to “jump in” when your child’s class begins their route on Spruce. We begin with 4th graders and go in descending age. (Early Childhood students will simply walk a loop on Spruce.) With our limited parking, please WALK here if you can, or park on Spruce east of Sheridan Road.
Finally, next Friday, May 3rd, we are showcasing our Sharks’ musical talents in the Spring Sing! We are back to a traditional performance on risers for two shows: Grades 2 & 4 and Orchestra at 10:00am; Grade K/1/3 at 1:30pm. Please park on Spruce. Doors open 15 minutes before the performance. We ask that students stay through the full school day until 2:50pm for normal dismissal. If you want to wait for your child after school, please provide a Green Note for the walker door. We’ll be bidding our 4th grade music teacher, Leslie Thornton, a fond farewell as she is retiring this year. Thank you for sharing your gift of music with our 4th grade Sharks!
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Susan

Spring MAP Testing
District 67 students in Grades 2-8 will take the NWEA Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Test between April 29 - May 10. MAP is a Common Core-aligned, adaptive, computer-based assessment. This nationally normed assessment is designed to measure growth over time in the areas of reading and math. The District utilizes the achievement and growth data from MAP to inform instructional planning for individuals and groups of students; and measure growth from year-to-year.
