DNA MUTATIONS
MUTATIONS CAUSED BY DNA
POINT MUTATIONS
For point mutations, a single nitrogenous base is changed at one point. An example would be THE DOG BIT THE CAT and after a nitrogenous base is changed (a letter) it changes to THE DOG BIT THE CAR. Point mutations cause things like sickle cell anemia.
Frameshift Mutation
Frameshift mutations are caused when a single base is added or taken away from DNA. This causes the entire strand to shift, making the codon reading off by one base. This causes issues such as Cystic Fibrosis and Lou Gehrig's Disease.
People Who Suffer From Lou Gehrings Disease
Steven Hawkings suffers from this disease, which effects the nerves in your body and paralyzes you. Because of this he has to live his live in a wheelchair and talks with a machine.
