Media is interpreted many different ways by many different people. Media is a way to express yourself. Media is a way to get information across. Media is a way to start trends. Without media our society would not be as brilliant as it is today. Media is also bad. The media today can be corrupt. Juicy j is a big star with the youth these days. His music media talks about strippers, girl’s bootys, drugs, alcohol. With such influence on the media our youth gets influenced by the wrong things. Media is such a powerful and amazing thing. The media has many forms and shapes that contribute to everyone’s daily life. You may not notice or know it but media plays a very big part in your life. Family peers, and friends have huge impacts on your life and media is right there with it. Social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram let you stay in touch with friends and loved ones and that has a huge influence in your life. Media literacy will be learning about how we can relate literature and common day media. Such as when we saw the facial tattoos and the man related it to Greek literature. Being media literate will be to take literature and media and be able to relate the two. Being media literate is also to be able to “read” the media. To read the media you will have to be able to understand what the media is saying or standing for.

Suwannee Georgia- Peachtree Ridge high school is a great facility that holds a unique high school population. This generation of high-schoolers has a very unique characteristic from the rest. They have the ability to somehow manage not to go to school, not turn in assignments, and do a terrible job on assignments they’ve completed. This is a rare new breed of high school students.
For the last couple of years teachers from Peachtree ridge such as Mrs. Hicks, Mrs. Davis, or Coach Lumpkin have been noticing that student’s work ethics have been diminishing and diminishing. Over years students have been able to master the skill and have the immunity to not worry about their future or their grade point averages.
“I never had the privilege to be able to witness such a special kind of student. I have been in the school business for a long time and this is a special case” said by Dr. Matthews who is the principle of Peachtree ridge high school. Out of all school is in the entire united states Peachtree Ridge is the best at what it does in all of the school clusters. If you want to be able to let your kid have a great time, enjoy his/her childhood, and not have to worry about them send them there. Maybe you can learn a thing or two from your kid... it is a new and handy skill they have mastered
SONG FOR 1984
The song I chose that would perfectly fit into the movie of 1984 is the song “Pursuit of Happiness” by the artist Kid Cudi. The entire novel 1984 written by George Orwell is of a dystopian culture were a man of the name of Winston Smith despised the government and wanted to live out his life happy and free. He met a girl named Julia and put himself in danger by seeing her, falling in love with her, and doing whatever he could that made him happy. Some lyrics from the song are “Imma do just what I want lookin’ ahead no turnin’ back. If I fall if I die know I lived it to the fullest. If I fall if I die know I lived and missed some bullets”. These lyrics correlate with the song very well. Both Julia and Winston went through life “ lookin’ ahead not turnin’ back”. Winston and Julia tried whatever they could do without thinking about the consequences and not regreting the actions they did. They lived through the party missing bullets. They dodged the telecscreens, microphones, and thought police. Some other lyrics from the song are “I'm on the pursuit of happiness and I know everything that shine ain't always gonna be gold”. These lyrics also correlate to 1984 because these lyrics indicate life will not always be bright and amazing it will have bumps and upsets and problems along the way. Julia and Winston face and go through a numerous amount of problems throughout the novel. it just has a clam cool and chilled vibe to the entire song and its kind of a "trippy" or different sound. There is not a song that could fit any better to this book.
VERSE 1:
Crush a bit, little bit, roll it up, take a hit
Feelin lit feelin light, 2 am summer night.
I don't care, hand on the wheel, drivin drunk, I'm doin my thing
Rollin the Midwest side and out livin my life getting out dreams
People told me slow my roll I'm screaming out F*ck that
Imma do just what I want lookin ahead no turnin back
if I fall if I die know I lived it to the fullest
if I fall if I die know I lived it missing bullets
CHORUS
I'm on the pursuit of happiness and I know everything that shine ain't always gonna be gold
I'll be fine once I get it, I'll be good.
(x2)

things coming to an end
First off I would like to start by saying I had the great honor and privilege to learn from the great Ms. Hicks and Ms. Davis. I was rereading all of the Smore entries and realized I actually learned a lot from this class and it bettered my knowledge. I am going to spill the beans... I was not expecting to digest anything from this class; I frankly never saw the point of making a class like this mandatory. I was proven wrong. Media literacy was a joy to come to everyday from the teaching to the environment around me. I learned amazing things like how to write a précis, how to satirize, annotation, activism, slackitivism, demonizing, lionizing, parodies, dystopian cultures, and how to write a six word memoir which I will be able to recall and use within the future. This semester we also read/watched amazing stories such as V for Vendetta, Macbeth, Smoke Signals, The Social Network, and 1984. The best thing about this class was that we did the majority of our work on computers and submitted everything electronically. Schoology was such a helpful and useful too. It was a lot easier to just submit something into the drop box rather than write things up find paper and a pencil and have to put your hand muscles through cramps and agonizing torture of grinding graphite to white lined paper. Making the class technologically based set aside from the other classes and gave it a unique cunning edge advantage. This class is nothing like any of the other language arts classes I have had previously before. The entire semester of media literacy with all the activities and assignments the teachers have created has nothing wrong with it other than the fact of the book 1984. It was a little tough to read. The book was interesting at points and was a decent novel but having a more action filled exciting dystopian novel could help benefit the class considerably. To make the rest of this long reflection short I enjoyed this class. I shall surely remember for years to come and I would just like to take this time now to thank both of you Ms. Hicks and Ms. Davis for the amazing job you guys have done and the impact you guys have placed upon my senior year. I would not have wanted another class or teachers. Thank you.
