FISD Early Childhood School
Where the Adventure Begins...
Happy Friday!
Dear Parents,
Here we are at another Friday! Another great week in the books! We have been taking a close look at specific skills in reading and math with all of our students so we can watch them progress. I'm always impressed when our teachers engage in rich dialogue around what works best with children, what daily supports do they make sure to have in place to ensure their growth, and what ideas can they gain from each other to further enrich your child's experience in their classroom. These conversations happen all the time here! And I just love it!
Each year, public schools get their own report card! State testing data is included in these for elementary, middle and high schools. While we do not have that information, we get a report card too. You can find ours by using this link: http://tea.texas.gov/perfreport/src/index.html
Tuesday night is our next parent partnership and performance night! First, we have a brief parenting session to give you all ideas of ways you can bring academic language into your home to help prepare your child for next year. At the end of this part, I'll be happy to answer any questions about the ideas we have shared or about our annual report card. Then we will enjoy a performance from our children who are scheduled to perform. If your child is performing, your teacher has already communicated that with you! The children performing is always our favorite part!
Enjoy the beautiful weekend!

Bad Weather Procedures
In case of bad weather, the Early Childhood School follows these procedures:
-Announcements will be made through the School Messenger call system, so please be sure that we have your correct telephone number and email address. If you have received a message from us this year, you should be fine. If you need to update your contact information, please email our data clerk, Veronica Mueller @ muellerve@friscoisd.org.
-If FISD is closed for any reason, the Early Childhood School will also be closed.
-If the district announces a 2 hour delayed start, the following schedule will be in effect:
-- All 3 hour day (7:40 and 11:40) classes will be cancelled.
-- All PSC, PLC, and PFIG classes will be cancelled.
-- Full Day classes will begin with a 2 hour delay and end at the regular time.
-- Morning transportation services will be provided with a 2 hour delay.
-- Dismissal transportation services will follow the normal schedule.
Please let your teacher or speech pathologist know if you have any questions about these procedures.
Promoting Independence
1. Expect more
2. Resist doing what s/he can do for themselves
3. Don't redo what they've done
4. Let them problem solve
5. Assign them a chore
I want to hear from YOU!
Hey ECS Parents! I've created a new forum called The ECS Parent Place! As your child's principal, I want to make sure I keep open lines of communication with all of you! I'm hoping this will turn into a great forum where you can post questions, feedback, and praise so that I can stay better connected with you and your perspectives. I look forward to hearing from you! Just click this link and then look for the hot pink circle with the plus sign. Click on that and you're on your way! I'll keep an eye out so I can respond to your posts. Thanks!
